Author: Sara Davison
Genre: Mystery/Suspense
Series: The Night Guardians, #1
Release Date: June 1, 2019

She must choose between the man who represents the law and the one who may have taken it into his own hands.

Neglected by her parents for most of her life, Nicole Hunter keeps everyone, especially men, at arms’ length. So when Attorney Gage Kelly walks into the diner where she is waiting tables one evening, she fights her attraction to him with everything she has.

Gage and his brother Holden grew up in an abusive home, and Gage has baggage of his own. But the connection between him and Nicole is too strong to ignore, and Gage manages to convince them both that their relationship is worth the risk.

Then children begin disappearing in the night.

When Detective Daniel Grey starts to close in on the child snatcher, and enlists Nicole’s help, she faces her deepest fear. Everything and everyone she has clung to so tightly could be ripped from her, leaving her completely alone.

Except for one.

Vigilant by Sara Davison will grab you from the first page and not let you go until you are finished.

The subject matter may be intense for some, but it will get you thinking. What would you do if faced with the impossible situation of saving a child from an abusive home, where the law and social services have failed? Would you break the law to do good, or would you trust in a failed system? In this book, there is a network of people who believe they are doing the right thing by snatching children out of their beds at night to protect them from their abusers. But Detective Daniel Grey sees child abductions and wants to find the culprit(s) and reunite the children with their families. But as things progress, even he starts to wonder if he is doing the right thing.

This book has a bit of everything, suspense, danger and even a little romance. And through it all, the author weaves the importance of God in our lives and our decisions. The characters are believers trying to do the right thing, but the question is - what would God consider the right thing to be?

A thoroughly enjoyable read. I highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this book. It was full of suspense. It brought tears to my eyes several times. It made me wonder what would I do if I knew these children needed help from their abusive home where they should feel safe? I really like how the author put God as the key part in the characters lives.

I am so anxious for the author’s 2nd book to come out in this series.  I rate this as a 5 Star!

I received a copy of the e-book from Sara Davison and all opinions are my own.

This author is known to me personally and I have enjoyed her company at our Christian writers group over the years. I am convinced this thought provoking book will add many hours of an exciting read.

Davison's creative mystery novel Vigilant brings characters we can relate with into ethical situations that bring tension and suspense to a very high level.
I've had the privilege of hearing the first drafts of this novel at writers' group sessions, and recommend any reader to set aside time to become engrossed in the final version of Vigilant.
I purchased a copy at the Word Guild Write Canada Bookstore this June, and have placed it in our church library so others might enjoy the excellent writing of Sara Davison.
Five Stars for Vigilant

I've read previous books by Sarah as well as books she has edited. The quality of her writing and her editing is outstanding. I knew if I brought the book home I would get nothing done until I'd read it completely. At Write Canada 2019 I was trying my best to keep purchases to a minimum, so came home without this one. It remains high on my wish-list, so one of these days. . .

LOVE this book! It's heavy on the romance, and heavy on the suspense - a truly captivating combination. I could not keep my nose out of it and can't wait for book #2!
