Spouse in the House

Picture
Author: Cynthia Ruchti/Becky Melby
Genre: Christian Living/Marriage

A frank and funny look at what to do when together is too close

Two's company, especially for those who love each other. So what happens when--due to retirement, working from home, or even running a business together--spouses find that being in the same space all the time is awkward, complex, annoying, and just plain challenging? How can partners co-exist without co-exhausting each other?

Cynthia Ruchti and Becky Melby know all too well how adjusting to a new, all-the-time closeness can cause the bliss of marriage to form blisters. Drawing from their experiences, and from men and women across the country in the same situation, the authors take a deep breath and dive into the root causes of the discomfort. They dig into the ways God's Word addresses the topic, and they offer practical tips for learning the spiritual, emotional, relational, and even physical steps that can help readers replace irritation with peace.

For any Christian who wants their home to be a refuge of peace and serenity for all--not just themselves--and who wants to know they aren't alone in the mental and physical claustrophobia of too much togetherness, Spouse in the House is a vulnerable, charming, and pragmatic breath of hope.

Hedge of Protection

Picture
Author: Johanna Henderson
Genre: Christian Living, Theology

What if for centuries we, the church, have been praying something God did not ask or intend for us to pray? What if the hedge of protection is a counterfeit covering?

For hundreds of years, Satan has been deceiving Christians concerning the hedge of protection. This book will take you step by step to what scripture says concerning the hedge of protection and why there has been so much confusion over this specific topic. In this book, you will learn why the hedge of protection is a counterfeit covering and what you can pray that will give you the true protective covering from the Lord. We must first know the truth to expose the lies of the enemy. John 8:32 says, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

The American Gospel

Picture
Author: Josh Lafferty
Genre: Spiritual Growth

Perhaps what many of us call church is more American than it is Christian.

Life in America is vastly different than almost anywhere else. Consumer expectations and the pursuit of cultural popularity are the driving force behind much of our society. There is a level of customer service that any business must maintain to remain relevant in the American marketplace. Unfortunately, this relevance has now extended itself into the Christian experience. Americans don’t just expect culture to cater to and convenience them. They now expect the Church and their faith to do the same.

Hoping to candidly address the most obvious problems in the present consumer-driven church model, The American Gospel: A Letter to a Post-Christian Church gives insight into the ways the American Church has gone astray and how it can regain influence in a rapidly changing culture. Since its inception, America has been guided by the Christian voice and the inspiration of pious believers. The decline of American Christianity is not the fault of secular culture. It is the responsibility of a relevant, comfortable, progressive church model that began in the twentieth century and now dominates American Christianity. It is clearly failing to bring the individual and cultural change that authentic faith in Jesus Christ demands.

There is hope. Not all have been swayed by competitive consumerism and its curse of relevance. By returning to orthodox Christian beliefs, demanding real conversion, and reigniting the flames of passionate faith, the American Church can still come back to its Christian roots and restore what influence it has lost.
