Davis Trust and Trickery by Christine Dillon is the third book in the Light of the Nations series, and it is a unique look at the people of Canaan and how they responded to Israel's invasion of their land. The author has taken the Scriptures and brought them to life with exceptional research, Bible study, and her imagination. This story picks up after Joshua becomes the leader of the Israelites, and they are ready to enter the Promised Land of Canaan. When a young man from Gibeon and his friend Yassib decide to spy on the Israelites, they discover the Israelite's God is more powerful than any false gods they worship. As Danel learns more and more about the God of Israel, he begins to realize that his false gods are worth nothing. I liked seeing Danel, his sister, and his uncle grow in their knowledge of God and faith in Him. I especially appreciated how the author showed how these invasions of the Israelites were possible. While a few places needed an editor, this is still a great book, and I look forward to reading more by this author. Leave a Reply. |
