Author: Lisa Harris Genre: Mystery/Suspense Series: U.S. Marshals #3 Release Date: April 5, 2022 Everything hidden is eventually found. After a harrowing attempt on a judge's life at the courthouse, Deputy US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are tasked with finding a missing woman and an endangered child in connection to the murder of the judge's wife. What seems like a fairly straightforward case becomes hopelessly tangled when the marshals discover that the woman they are searching for is not who they think she is. Madison and Jonas are forced into a race to find the woman and the child before the people who want her dead discover her location. And in a final showdown that could cost her everything, Madison will come face-to-face with the person who murdered her husband. Reviewer: Marie Edwards If you haven’t read the first two books: The Escape and The Chase – you need to. Since this was a trilogy, and as the author left the endings of the first two books open – I needed this book to find out what would happen. The open-endings? Who killed Madison James’ husband (Luke) some five years earlier and shot Madison at the end of book #1? It is the same person – but the who and why are elusive. Only a clue here or there is revealed across the first two books. All three stories occur in less than 4-5 months’ time. The covers look nearly identical, so there is no question it is a series and should definitely be read in order. Other returning characters: Madison and Jonas’ boss, Carl Michaels; Madison’s sister Danielle; Madison and Danielle’s father (whose battle with Alzheimer’s is getting worse); and Piper, a USMS analyst (who was introduced in book #2). Like the previous books, this one has a new “case” for the Deputy U.S Marshals – and it is far more complicated than it looks. The series also continues the romance between Madison and fellow Deputy U.S Marshal Jonas Quinn. There is no doubt the two love each other, but having time and “closure” to experience it is another matter. The first chapter sets it off with an interesting revelation about a judge, a mistress, and a baby – adding the man’s wife into the mix. Harris doesn’t wait for a windup and pitch – she just hurls the ball with tremendous force and speed before the 5th chapter, plunging the reader right in with no handrails or chance to duck. Harris expertly highlights the “three truths to every story – his, hers, and THE truth,” or “yours, mine, and THE truth.” The Catch was a super-fast thrill ride that required handrails, seatbelts, and a shoulder harness. This had hairpin turns, sudden and steep drops, and a stunning climatic finish. Exciting, gut-wrenching, and full of surprises. I could not put this down. I finished this (first page to last) in three hours. That is a rare feat. The short chapters really kept me reading right through this. And Harris’ writing was fast-paced without looking like she was rushing through the story. Despite everything going on, Harris manages to successfully tie everything together and wrap up the story and the series. I was not disappointed at all. I am sad the series is over, but it is VERY high on the “re-read” list. I still have A Secret to Die For on my TBR stack. And I’m very eager to see what Harris does next. This is distributed by Revell, a primarily Christian/faith-themed publisher. Naturally, there are references to God, mentions of the Psalms, and tenets of the Christian faith espoused or practiced. However, these were the characters’ traits and were not integral to the storyline. This was, despite some violence, a VERY clean read. Thank you to the publisher, Revell Books (a division of Baker Books), for providing a complimentary review copy through Interviews & Reviews. A positive review was not required nor requested, and all words are my own. Reviewer: Joy Hannabass The Catch by Lisa Harris is a fast-paced, intriguing thriller. US Marshalls Madison James and Jonas Quinn are quickly pulled into action. As the judge's life is threatened and so much more happening, it is difficult to tell who does what next. Whew!! My head was spinning, and I hadn't read half the book yet. I love these solid, profound characters that make up this book. And Madison wanted one case solved. She was still looking for her husband's killer. But there's no way this is all connected, is there? I love everything Lisa Harris writes. I have read several of her series, but only this book in the US Marshals Series. It was an OK read as a stand-alone, but I know I need to read the series in order from past books, so I plan to do that. If you love edge-of-your-seat, hard-core, fast-paced, intriguing stories with so many twists and turns that quickly serve their purpose, Lisa Harris' The Catch is what you are looking for. I am happy to give this one Five of Five Stars! I received this book courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews. Reviewer: Lori Parrish This series definitely deserves a 5-star rating! I loved every minute of this fast-action novel. Wonderful characters and a fascinating plot kept my attention the whole way through. I finished this in one day. I simply couldn't put it down! This has been the best series ever by Lisa Harris. Just wow! I am a little sad because I didn't want this series to end because I enjoyed it so much! Books like these are for my keeper shelf. Thank you for a wonderful adventure, Ms. Harris! I'm looking forward to seeing what u come put with next. I highly recommend it! My thanks for a copy of this book from Revell through Interviews & Reviews. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own. Reviewer: Nikita Wells This is an insanely good book, packed with thrills, chills, and all the good stuff you look for in a great suspense read! This is my first time reading one of Lisa Harris's books, but I'm hooked to read the rest of her collections now! It's completely clean and based on the United States Marshals agency, which I actually hadn't read any about. This lovely book is filled with realistic, funny, hardworking lawmen and women. It is a must to put on your to-be-read pile! I received a paperback copy free from the publisher, courtesy of Interviews and Reviews, for my review. Also, thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a free e-book copy! The thoughts and opinions above are my own, and I was not required to give a positive review. Reviewer: Linda Klager I have read all 3 books in this series. The author kept me in suspense the entire time. Madison James and Jonas Quinn have both had losses. Madison especially had difficulty moving on because of the trauma she experienced. If you enjoy learning more about the process of finding out who the villains are and why they did what they did, you will truly enjoy books 1, 2, and 3. Madison really went through a lot for 5 years. I am glad that the author covered all aspects of her life, and how she handled all that happened to her with grace and strength. I received this book courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews. Reviewer: Anna Bottoms The Catch is a nonstop, action-packed thriller with so much going on I couldn’t keep up—in a good way. I was up until the last page with more than one mystery to solve and lives on the line. Jonas has just returned from training and is looking for some downtime with Madison to feel out their relationship. Too bad they’re thrown into a case before they get the chance. A judge’s wife has been murdered, but the suspect isn’t what they expect. She’s the mother of a baby who’s disappeared, and her story doesn’t fit the evidence. Amid all the excitement, Madison’s shooter—her husband’s killer—is still on the loose and taunting her at every turn. With so much at stake, will she trust God enough to allow Him to heal her heart and take a new chance at love? I loved this book and highly recommend it. I was given a copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews and Reviews via NetGalley. This is my honest review. Reviewer: Nora St. Laurent This is the third and final book in the US Marshals series. It could be read as a standalone, but you’ll get a richer experience by reading all three books. I was glued to this action-packed thriller as Madison and partner Jonas try to unravel a mystery surrounding an attempt on a Judge’s life. I was amazed at the intricate web this author weaves. Nothing is cut and dry, and/or predictable. What starts out looking like a simple case soon explodes into something very unexpected. I liked how the author gives the reader a front row seat to this young girl’s drama and how the main characters are lured into a situation they never saw coming. Then the twists and turns begin, as things are not what they appear. I loved the satisfying ending where readers finally get to know who has been stacking Madison and killed her husband. Many characters prove redeemable, while others are bad to the bone. I couldn’t put this inspirational thriller down until I had gathered all the puzzle pieces, attempting to know who done it in the end; there are many suspects and other mysteries that need to be solved before the big reveal. This book is a romantic suspense novel to get lost in and one that would be great for your next book club pick. There is so much to discuss. The Catch, is a story with believable characters, a splash of romantic, that has more turns, twists, and sudden stops. What’s not to like?
