So Afi went to live with God His body healed, no longer flawed. This story succeeds as a tribute to a loving and well-loved grandfather and the God he served. It is also an inspiration to families to honour their loved ones as they get older, and I find the author’s use of actual family photos particularly appropriate here. Questions at the back of the book invite discussion, and a made-for-children gospel presentation and suggested prayer invite children to begin their own faith journeys. There are, however, some rough patches in the story—places where forced rhyme and uneven rhythm slow the reader down. A free copy of this book was given to me. A child doesn't know how to move from the world of Disney cartoons to be found in the land of grief. This book tells the child that they are not alone in this - there are others. The photographs show the child that these are real people. It gives hope - the grandfather goes to live with God! (can't bet that one Disney for a happy ending). The questions at the back would be a valuable outlet for a grieving child as comfort in themselves but also in leading the child into the comfort only God can give. Wonderful!. I haven't seen many books on this topic for children , which makes this book all the more valuable.
