Author: Allison Allen Genre: Christian Living/Self-Help It's time you stepped into the light of God's role for you Actors aren't the only ones who play characters. Many of us do, much of the time. We walk into a room, figure out who we're supposed to be in this context, slip into character, is not what God wants for our our lives--and it's not what we want either. With fascinating personal stories and sharp insight into human nature, former actor Allison Allen calls you to drop the brave act and step into the role of a lifetime--being your real self in Christ, no matter what the critics might say. She gives you permission to talk about, rather than around, the things you feel, freeing you to step out of the shadows and into the light of God's true calling. Reviewer: Sabrina Wade First of all, I did not finish the book. While I understand the main theme of the book, I found it overwhelmingly loaded with information. I could not easily follow through. No fault of the author, perhaps my expectation was overly high. I truly tried to stick with it knowing it's a book on Christian faith and based on real issues of self acceptance. Reviewer: Kandace Perry Allison Allen, through her book Shine guides us through a journey of self-discovery and freedom through heartwarming stories, personal experiences and a solid Biblical foundation. Allison beautifully weaves day to day situations, hurts and fears and joys together with God's Word reminding us that God is present and relevant yesterday, TODAY and forever. Throughout the book, Allison uses her voice to encourage women of all ages and walks of life to release the burden, fear and even incapacitation of names. Names we've been called, implied or also subconsciously given ourselves to verbalize them and leave them at the altar. Thank you for that Allison - Insecurity. Inferiority. Failure. The graphic design and title were ideal for the novel, depicting how we are supposed to shine from the inside out to glow with the love of our Lord. Allison wrote with honesty and purity, putting herself out there for all of us to see her achievements and her fears. Through Shine, Allison encourages us to authentically be ourselves, to be real with others and allow God the opportunity to work in and through us.
