I don't think I have ever read a book where the movie came first and the novel came later, but such is the case with Paul, Apostle of Christ by Angela Hunt.

While I enjoyed the movie, at times I found it very hard to hear because the actors almost whispered their lines, so reading the book (for me at least) filled in those gaps. And while Hunt stayed close to the screenplay, she did add a few "what if" scenarios that rounded out the novel that made it a very satisfying read.

Like the movie, the book emphasized the love Christians had for each other, for Jesus and for the lost and leaves those who know the Lord feeling inspired. If you are looking for a bit more insight into Paul and Luke's relationship and what the early Christians endured during Nero's reign, this book will definitely fill in all those gaps.
