Author: Kate Breslin Genre: Historical Romance Release Date: December 13, 2022 Publisher: Bethany House At the height of World War I, two sweethearts face impossible odds in this powerful tale of courage, duty, and heartbreak. In the summer of 1918, Captain Marcus Weatherford arrives in Russia on a secret mission, with a beautiful ballerina posing as his fiancée. He's there to find the Romanov tsarina and her son and glean information about a plot to assassinate Lenin. As the danger intensifies, Marcus's sense of duty battles with his desire to return home to Clare, the woman he truly loves, before it's too late. Military hospital orderly Clare Danner still suffers from Marcus's betrayal after learning he's engaged to another woman. Clare also fears losing her daughter, Daisy, to the heartless family who took her away once before. Only Marcus can provide the critical proof needed to save Daisy, but when an injury leaves him powerless to help, Clare's fate--and the fate of the top-secret mission--hangs in the balance. Reviewer: Abigail Harder Ms. Breslin's writing will sweep you away behind the treacherous and dangerous enemy lines of World War 1. I was sucked into this book from page one, and I had a hard time putting it down. My heart went out to Clare so many times throughout this book. I could imagine myself in her shoes countless times, and my heart broke for her and Marcus. I wanted to jump into the story numerous times to get them to discuss their misunderstandings, but alas, I could not. I also wanted to hug Clare because she could not catch a break...the poor girl. I did enjoy the underlying suspense throughout this whole book. I enjoyed the Romanov mystery aspect as well. Overall, I greatly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read whatever Mrs. Bresline has next up her sleeve! I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Bethany House through Interviews and Reviews in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own. I was not required to write a positive review. Reviewer: Raechel Kelly I so enjoyed this novel! Author Kate Breslin is very talented at writing a story that is certain to capture a reader's attention. We were first introduced to the main characters Marcus and Clare in the novel, Not By Sight, but we get so much more of an in-depth look into their lives and story with In Love's Time. It has been a while since I've read "Not By Sight," so some details are a bit foggy in my mind. But I was able to follow along pretty well in this book, and I loved getting to know the characters anew. The plot is captivating and written so well. Set in WWI, there is plenty of intrigue and mystery, wondering which characters you can trust. While the reality of amnesia would be quite terrible, I always find it interesting to read about and see how it plays out in novels, so that aspect intrigued me too. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed In Love's Time, adored the author's writing style, and valued the poignant messages woven throughout the novel. Definitely recommended for fans of historical novels with great depth and characters! I received a complimentary copy of the novel from Bethany House through Interviews & Reviews. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts expressed are entirely my own. Reviewer: Winnie Thomas “We’ve all faced one obstacle or another in our lives, but those hard things prepare us for greater challenges.” Set in England and Russia in 1918, In Love’s Time by talented author Kate Breslin gives us the story of Captain Marcus Weatherford and Clare Danner. When Marcus is sent on a dangerous secret mission to Russia with a ballerina named Natalya posing as his fiancée, miscommunications occur and Clare is crushed. Marcus returns injured with memory loss, and Clare is tasked with helping him recover his health and memory. From the back cover blurb, I was expecting more of the story to take place in Russia, but the vast majority of the story was set in England, so I felt the blurb was a little misleading. I love historical fiction, because I learn about little slices of history while enjoying a good story, and this novel was no exception. The author’s notes in the back of the book were very interesting and helpful in understanding some of the events and circumstances of the time. The characters are well-drawn and engaging, the writing flows smoothly, and the story kept me turning pages. With plenty of intrigue, suspense, romance, and inspiration, this story should appeal to those who enjoy clean historical romance. While Breslin’s books aren’t labeled as a series, there are some characters that are interconnected and show up in her other books. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from Bethany House Publishers. All opinions are my own. Reviewer: Kristina Hall Characters: After being a side character in several of Kate Breslin's other WWI novels, Marcus finally got his own book. The portrayal of his amnesia seemed realistic. Clare was a well-developed character. I liked how protective she was of her daughter. I did imagine her as being closer to thirty and was kind of shocked when I found out she was only in her early twenties. Language: Clean. Plot: Plenty of tough situations, sketchy side characters, and romance kept this book moving right along. Romance: Clean. Just kissing. Although the romance was clean, I was disturbed by how often engaged characters (or characters who thought they were engaged) flirted and acted romantically toward characters who weren't their intended spouses. Themes: This book featured themes of love (obviously), memory, duty, and surrender. The characters' faith arcs wrapped up a little quickly for me, but I was just glad those arcs were in there. Writing: Kate Breslin's descriptive writing style worked well for this novel. Overall: In Love's Time was an interesting read that I'd recommend to those who enjoy Christian fiction and historical romance. Disclosure: I received this book free from Bethany House through Interviews & Reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review. One must act despite all and embrace what the heart holds dear." I have always enjoyed Kate Breslin's books and the intense espionage and intrigue in them. Her newest absolutely fulfilled my expectation and more. Though this book connects quite a few characters from her previous books (in particular, "Not by Sight"), it can be read as a stand-alone. Brimming with intrigue, tender romance, heartache, and faith, the book will captivate and enthrall any reader who loves historical romance. Finally getting to see Captain Marcus Weatherford up close and personal was a pleasure. He's been a stalwart, faithful secondary character in the author's WWI books. I loved his character thoroughly, even if I didn't agree with some of his decisions. Clare was a lovable heroine, rising above her humiliation and thriving as a single mother and an orderly in a hospital. Learning about a military hospital run by an all-women staff during the war was quite fascinating. Marcus' amnesia allows for a fresh restart to his relationship with Clare. It gives the reader a glimpse into their fun, witty, tender, all-encompassing bond. It was also interesting to see the events unfold through Natalya, Jack, and Fannie's eyes. And Fannie's delightful romance with Peter was an added bonus. I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All opinions are my own. Reviewer: Laura J. Davis In Love's Time by Kate Breslin is a sweeping saga of a love lost, intrigue, and espionage that you will find hard to put down. Clare Danner has been dating Marcus Weatherford for so long her two-year-old daughter calls him 'Da. She believed they had something special, but she is devastated when she discovers his engagement to another woman. She couldn't believe she had been fooled by yet another man. And this is where the book started to confuse me. Clare's backstory was so intriguing I wondered why we weren't getting more of it. Not only did she have a child out of wedlock, but her daughter was violently removed from her by the child's grandparents and put in a workhouse when it was just a baby. And Marcus saved the child. So, that's a lot and so interesting I wanted to know more. Unfortunately, I found out (too late) that this information is in another book called Not by Sight, published in 2015. If you didn't read that book, you would feel slightly lost reading this one. However, In Love's Time can be read as a standalone. You get enough backstory, but the backstory is so intriguing you want more. Especially since it comes heavily into play in this book. Hopefully, Not by Sight is still in print, as I want to read it now! Once you get past the "past," this book takes off and keeps you riveted until the last page. I highly recommend it! I received a copy of this book courtesy of Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley for my honest opinion. Reviewer: Diana Varela This novel made me come to tears. The emotions were much too real. I could feel what the author was trying to convey, which is what I like feeling when reading books. It was so tragic with the character getting amnesia, but it was such a remarkable novel. Clare not only loved Marcus, but she needed him to provide extra support to keep her daughter. Now that he appears to be with another woman, all hope seems to be lost. But are things as they appear? Marcus is on a mission and gets into quite a predicament that alters his life. I loved seeing this novel play out. Even though it was sad and heartbreaking at times, I absolutely adored watching Clare and Marcus’ story blossom. When I got this novel, I did not expect it to have captured my attention so quickly. This book is so special. I absolutely loved it all. Totally recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers through Interviews & Reviews.
