Author: Irene Hannon Genre: Mystery/Suspense The most dangerous enemy is the one who has nothing to lose As teenagers, Kristin Dane and her two best friends took a vow to make the world a better place. Twenty years later, she's fulfilling that pledge through her fair trade shop that features products from around the world. All is well until, one by one, people connected to the shop begin dying. Detective Luke Carter, new to the St. Louis PD, wants to know why. Before he can answer that question, however, the FBI weighs in and Kristin suddenly finds herself in the middle of international intrigue--and in the sights of the ruthless mastermind behind an ingenious and deadly scheme. Can this cold-blooded killer be stopped before more people die . . . including Kristin? Three-time RITA Award-winner and "queen of inspirational romantic suspense" (Library Journal) Irene Hannon doesn't disappoint in this edge-of-your-seat thriller that will have you up late as you rush toward the explosive conclusion. Reviewer: Camille Murray I really enjoyed this book. It had a good pace, not too slow, not too fast. I appreciated the references to the faith of the characters, and the strength that they demonstrated in difficult situations. And the detail was superb. I've actually had a family member in a coma from a traumatic brain injury, so that part really hit home with me. Overall, it was a very enjoyable read, and I would certainly read more of the author's work. Book provided courtesy of Baker Publishing. Reviewer: Jill Jones Kristin Dane wants to make the world a better place, so she opens a fair trade shop featuring products from all over the world. Across the world, Brother Michael Bennett, a monk in a monastery in Syria, makes a frightening discovery and is found dead, presumably of natural causes. When Kristin's employee is found murdered, a gruesome plot is discovered, and she must work closely with the St. Louis Police Department and the FBI to help find the mastermind behind a deadly terrorist scheme. "Hidden Peril" is the second installment in Irene Hannon's Code of Honor series. As always, Hannon entertains until the end. Although easy to figure out, it as fun to witness the interaction between Kristin and Luke Carter, the detective assigned to her case. I enjoyed their little romance as they each deserved to find some happiness after the losses they had both endured. It is hard to go wrong when choosing a Hannon novel--from action to suspense to mystery and romance, Hannon consistently delivers quality work. Book provided courtesy of Baker Publishing. Reviewer: Rebecca Maney "A lot of people talked about helping those in need. Kristin Dane was doing it." That's what made the crime so bizarre; a lovely fair trade shop smeared with the blood of a senseless murder. Kristin Dane is deeply heartbroken over the violent death of her part time clerk. The police want answers as well, and when they assign Detective Luke Carter to Kristin's case, she is duly convinced that Luke will do his very best to seek justice. But when a second murder is committed with loose connections to Kristin's merchandise, there is a sense that a much darker force could be involved. . . . . . for, "terrorists are not predictable". Join Luke and and Kristin as they fight against those seeking America's demise, while their growing attraction for each other threatens to provide the spark that their enemy needs, to ignite its strategy into overdrive. This story has Irene Hannon's legendary trademarks written all over it; admirers of romantic suspense will have a hard time putting it down!
