Picture
Author: Andrea Christenson
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Deep Haven #5
Release Date: September 14, 2021

He just wants to erase his past. She can't seem to escape hers. But facing it might put their future in jeopardy.

The day Jack Stewart walked out of jail, he vowed to keep his conviction a secret. The whole thing was just a terrible mistake, and he did his time. Now he wants a new life in a sleepy town where no one knows his name. Deep Haven is the perfect place to start over as a chef. The last thing the former pararescue jumper wants is to get involved. But when Boone Buckam-the guy he owes for getting him out of the slammer-asks for help, how can he refuse?

Colleen Decker has already escaped evil once-as a teenager, she was kidnapped by a murderer. But she's put all that behind her as a trauma nurse in Minneapolis. Or maybe not, because a freak mistake in the ER sends her past crashing down on her. She needs a timeout in her hometown of Deep Haven. She doesn't plan to stay-even when she's roped into the job of flight nurse for the town's Crisis Response Team chopper. Colleen's not sure why she's drawn to danger, but she'll be safe enough-after all, she'll need training, and her teacher is a handsome former pararescue jumper. What could go wrong?

When Jack said he didn't want to get involved, he especially meant his heart-but being with Colleen feels like a fresh start. He'll even climb aboard a chopper again, despite his vows. They're headed for a happy ending...

But secrets never stay buried in a small town. And when disaster strikes one snowy night, they'll both have to decide if the past will destroy them...or if it just might lead them home.

Cozy up to this perfect Deep Haven drama about discovering a season of second chances.

A season of second chances is the perfect description for this journey to Deep Haven! Hangin' by a Moment is the 5th book in a new series from Susan May Warren, where she pairs her fictional town of Deep Haven with an up-and-coming Christian fiction author. While I have not had the opportunity to read any of the four previous books in this series, I am familiar enough with Deep Haven and made myself at home with these wonderful characters and exciting story.

Deep Haven is one of those towns where all of us wish we could spend a day. The small-town charm, the neighborly people, and its sneaking ability to feel like home draw me in every time I visit.  After a traumatic incident, Colleen decides to return for a visit of her own, thinking it will be a quick trip and she'll be back to her busy life as an ER nurse. Little did she realize she would be pulled in a different direction to use her skills in a new way.

Jack seeks out Deep Haven to escape from his past. Thinking he can lay low and no one will uncover his secrets, he takes a job as a cook, serving up the most mouth-watering burgers (seriously, I need to know the recipes for some of them - they sound that good)!  But once his secret gets out, he knows it will be too late to convince Colleen that their budding relationship is worth a second chance.

I want to applaud these authors for writing about two flawed, struggling individuals who suffered panic attacks because of some intense situations in their past. Subtle reminders of those situations creep up in the most inopportune times, and with God's help and each other's reassurance, they find a way to make it through. I think readers now are encouraged when they see characters they can relate to, who have the same flaws that we do, and don't expect the book's last page to have a sweet little bow attached.

Readers new to any of the Deep Haven books will have no trouble diving right into this story. It is full of exciting twists and turns, and the kissing scenes between Jack and Colleen are enough to give you heart palpitations! If you are looking for your next contemporary romance read, I promise - you've found it here!

Andrea Christenson is back with a new story in the Deep Haven Collection in collaboration with Susan May Warren called: Hangin’ by a Moment. The past plays a big role in second chances, especially if it's a past you can't just forget/erase. Jack or Winston Stewart and Colleen Decker both have their secrets. Secrets, which they thought were buried deep and could not affect their future. But when they get to Deep Haven, it turns out that despite all their efforts at secrecy, it still comes to light.

Danger, a word that makes Colleen wince, but also attracts her. When she makes a mistake at her job as a trauma nurse, she must recognize that she needs a break. Deep Haven seems like an excellent place to do so. But danger seeks her there as well. Fortunately, she has help from a former pararescue jumper. Despite the chance for a new start, it is not possible to get involved with each other, and their hearts definitely may not either.

Hangin' by a Moment is a story that pulls you in from the beginning, only to let go at the end. The characters are incredibly well worked out, like you know them completely by the end of the book. There are good plot twists and faith is also woven through nicely.

If you like Christian, inspirational romance with a dose of suspense, then this book is definitely for you.

This book was a wonderful love story. I can’t get enough of Colleen and Jack (Win) Stewart. They begin on common ground, but there are secrecies on Jack’s side.

By that time Colleen and Jack become local heroes. They do an interview Jack is questioned about his past and runs.

A very fuzzy feeling love story. This eBook was given to me through Sunrise Publishing and Courtesy of Interviews and Reviews.

“Sometimes we feel restless because we haven’t discovered what it is that God wants for us.”

It’s another beautiful and memorable trip back to Deep Haven. Andrea Christenson’s characters will wrap themselves around your heart and their second chance at life will encourage and bolster your faith. It’s wonderful to see the older and wiser Nathan and Annalise Decker from Susan May Warren’s original Deep Haven series. Deep Haven is definitely growing and the new authors building onto the small town are doing so in a perfectly seamless and captivating way to invite the readers back to stay for a while.

Colleen and Jack are both traumatized from their past mistakes and the consequences but trying hard to overcome them through work. Neither sees romance or fellowship of loving friends and family coming their way to help them until they encounter both in Deep Haven. There is plenty of action as they work together on their Crisis Response Team’s chopper and quite a bit of medical drama as well as they respond to emergencies. It’s such a fun and exciting book that you won’t be able to put down!

I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

Susan May Warren has done it once again with a stellar story from Andrea Christenson, which is impossible to put down.

We go on an emotional rollercoaster with the beloved characters who we promptly come to know and love, and follow along as we watch their story unfold. Jack & Colleen’s story is one of the most emotional ones yet in the Deep Haven series which only makes it better. And we are reunited once again with the rest of the beloved characters of Deep Haven and the Crisis Response Team.

If you need a good laugh, cry, or anything in between, this is definitely the book you need to read!
