Friends, Partners and Lovers written by Kevin Thompson is by far one of the best books I have read on marriage and intimacy. It is a profound and insightful book on how to make your marriage work. I  highly recommend Friends, Partners and Lovers for any individual or couple considering marriage, who are newly married or have been married for decades..it opens your eyes to things you may not know and awaken your spirit to things you may have forgotten...It's a must read!!! It is an excellent resource to return to over and over again. Open and honest communication, caring, showing compassion, helping your partner strive to reach their goals, working together to achieve a common dream, intimacy, finances, parenting, and just making time to relax and breathe together - all of it - can sometimes to be challenging within the bonds of marriage AND Kevin touches on all of it!! He speaks directly, in a straightforward and honest manner, sharing personal experiences from within his own marriage and from encounters he has had with others...his advice, knowledge and guidance is practical, realistic and attainable. From beginning to end Kevin has kept God at the centre of it all, reminding us of the importance of putting God first not only in our personal lives but our marriage and our homes.  Friends, Partners and Lovers has been both an eye-opener and encouragement to me; for me personally...it has been a much-needed must read.

I selected this book to review based on the cover and the title, and I was not disappointed, in fact, it surpassed any expectation I had. It was exactly the book I needed to read at this time in my life. Personally, I am married for the second time. Coming up to four years and it has been a challenge, we have had a lot of difficult times, and I am thankful for this book and the insights and advice that God imparted to Kevin and that Kevin followed God's Word and His Voice and wrote this book.

For me, an excellent sign of a good self-help book is the number of pages I have folded over or the number of sentences I have highlighted. Friends, Partners & Lovers by Kevin Thompson kept my folding fingers and highlighter busy! I was provided with a copy of the book to review from a Christian standpoint. Though Kevin Thompson is a Pastor, he made this book for everyone, not just Christians. There are only a few references to scriptures and God. The book is excellent advice to those not yet married, newlyweds and long termers like myself. I am going to a wedding in a few weeks and found myself wanting to include a quote from the book in my wedding card to the couple. In the end, I decided to write “My wish to you – read Friends, Partners & Lovers."
