The fascinating title, Faith Comes By Hearing drew me to this book.

Author Paul Doty addresses a wide range of sound-related topics — sound fundamental, sound systems and sound engineering. He draws his knowledge from 40 years of experience in sound and production in the California region. Paul’s experiences range from churches to other organizations such as The Cadillac Club, in the “90’s......the second-largest concert company” (p.18).

The book is definitely rich in subject matter. Some of the topics include sound fundamentals, sound systems, biology acoustics, engineering secrets revealed, the art of troubleshooting, and psycho acoustics. Paul shares his topics with passion and he is a man of faith. I was introduced to the language, the art and the science of sound. As a reader without a sound background, the rich content felt like a waterfall of information. It was a lot to digest. However, Paul created a unique reading experience that was both educational and personalized with his antidotes entitled “Gotta tell stories.” I believe that sounds enthusiasts would benefit from reading the book Faith Comes By Hearing. In addition, this book would be a great educational resource at a learning institution.
