Steven Rothwell takes it upon himself to stay with her--and the young client she has taken under her wing. A protector at heart, he's not about to let Haley fight this battle alone. In a sweeping plot that takes them into long-buried memories--and the depths of the heart--Haley and Steven will have to solve the mystery of Haley's past while dodging bullets, bombs, and bad guys who just won't quit. Reviewer: Laura Thomas Professional bodyguard Haley Callaghan finds herself caught in a case which not only pulls on her protective heartstrings, but also puts her own life in grave danger. As light is shed on the mystery behind her personal childhood tragedy, Haley is forced to make some life-changing decisions—which include a certain handsome detective. This is a fast-paced read with twists and turns, heartache, romance, and a fascinating reference to Haley's early years in Ireland. At times I felt there was maybe too much going on in one individual's life, but it made for a very enjoyable read. Reviewer: Jill Jones I love the Elite Guardians. They have everything a heroine needs--bravery, skill, intelligence as well as beauty and intrigue. Haley has no idea she had such an intriguing past until it put her life in danger. A 25-year-old cold case in West Ireland sets off a chain of events that puts Haley in a battle for her life. It also places her in the capable hands of Detective Steven Rothwell who is infatuated with Haley from the moment he lays eyes on her. From the very beginning, Lynette Eason captivates with one big surprise after another. I enjoyed the romantic subplot between Haley and Steven. It was refreshing to see these characters not fight their feelings for each other and see where it let. They didn't have to talk about how they felt about each other. Eason did a remarkable job with their growing love story. My review would probably have been a five-star except my EPUB version had formatting issues that caused me some confusion (scenes switched without a break in paragraphs or chapters). This book is bursting with a theme of forgiveness. All the characters are well developed and the plot kept me intrigued to the very end. A recommended read!
