Author: Travis Perry & 13 More Genre: Sci-Fi/Anthology Series: Scriptural Speculative Story #1 Explore the Beatitudes and Woes of the Bible through the stories of thirteen Christian authors in this unique anthology. Courage in the face of suffering, persecution, unexpected loss, self-sacrifice, joy in spite of circumstances, tears suppressed and expressed, love from the heart, kindness shown to friends and strangers, a monster slain, an alien plague, high adventure, a comedic hero finally taking a stand, a lost love found, and much more are featured in these tales. Each story ends by quoting Jesus–from either one of the nine “blessed are” statements in Matthew chapter five or one of the four “woe to” sayings in Luke six. Reviewer: Kandace Perry Beatitudes & Woes edited by Travis Perry is an imaginative and adventurous anthology. The majority of the stories take place on different planets, either fighting to exist or discovering ways for their life forms to mingle with humans (or hybrids) on planet earth. The stories within Beatitudes & Woes are full of intrigue, fighting for survival, for freedom, for acceptance or for love. The overall book was interesting in a more futuristic, and intergalactic way. The graphic on the cover was bold and powerful. I felt that the stories did not have a direct faith-filled story line to them, though there were various references to their own spiritual leaders (Giver, Maker, Leader). Each author did, however, reference their Beatitude and tied it all together at the end of their stories. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
