When they murder her husband, Julia Bowen is determined to turn on the light. Julia believed her husband told her everything. But now he is dead, murdered by armed gunmen who broke into their home. Forced to flee and not knowing where else to go, she seeks help from Charlie, a homeless veteran living in the woods of Victoria, BC, behind her home. When she is framed for the murder, Julia goes into hiding, her past distrust of law enforcement haunting her all the while. With Charlie’s help, she discovers what her husband died for: a human trafficking ring operating in the city. Unsure of his involvement, Julia decides to follow a trail of evidence he left behind. She soon discovers a network of local businesses involved in the sexual exploitation of young women. As she navigates grief, being hunted, and attempting to expose a human trafficking ring, Julia encounters help from unexpected people and discovers a God who is present through it all. Reviewer: Gee Dixon The book had a very good storyline. It started good from the beginning to the end. There were quite a few words spelled wrong that were not the Canadian words. There were many words separated with a hyphen, where a hyphen did not belong. For a Christian based story there was a bit of cuss words used in the story. The ending left the story open for Book 2. Julia was my favorite character. She had so much determination, strength and learned to pray to God through all her circumstances. Reviewer: Kandace Perry All That It Takes by K.L Ditmars is a must read for anyone that enjoys reading about strength, courage and perseverance when you are fighting for your life and the purpose of a loved ones' death. It is a must read for anyone who is drawn to books about friendship, fighting for what is right, intrigue, danger and above all else, learning to trust in God for answers and protection. Ditmar shows us how to keep going when you have lost everyone you love and how God paves the way ahead of us, bringing people into our lives at just the right moment. All That It Takes is a must read that you will not want to put down until you read the last word and then you are left wanting more. Reviewer: Anna Bottoms I liked the way the story flowed around Julia as she’s on the run and trying to solve the mystery surrounding her husband’s murder. She’s a determined heroine helped along by two wonderfully written army vets and a news reporter. I loved Charlie, a loner willing to take a chance even, put his life on the line to do the right thing, and Lincoln, the man who purchases Julia’s home and inherits her dog, then volunteers to be her investigative partner. Danger lurks around every corner as they work to bring down a human trafficking ring and keep Julia alive in the process. I didn’t give 5 stars only because the rest of the story is in book two and I’m not a fan of continuing stories from book to book. I will say this is a well written book and worth reading. I was given this book courtesy of the author through Interviews and Reviews. This is my honest assessment of the book. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
