![]() Author: Danielle Thorne Genre: Historical Romance Keeping company with a pirate is one thing. Falling in love with him could ruin Sophie and her eccentric family for good... Sophie Crestwood is never going to catch a husband. Her father is a gossip, her mother has her nose in a book, and little Jack has shamefully been dismissed from boarding school. Worst of all, a pirate moves next door into Pembroke Hall. When Sophie's sent to a matchmaking party at a neighboring estate, the pirate from Pembroke arrives and distracts everyone from the summer festivities. Unguarded, her feelings about the mysterious Captain Murdock bloom into a trusted friendship that Sophie fears may come to mean more than anyone could ever suspect. ![]() Reviewer: Susan Poll Oh how deliciously delightful as it follows along the lines of Pride and Prejudice! It reads like a movie and brings you through the ever complicated lives of those in the times of juggling one’s intellect and social standing. Characters with strong personalities and always witty banter as they pretend to behave in polite society. What a fun read and it warmed my Regency loving heart to go through this tale and live the ups and downs and romantic struggles with Sophie. Captain Murdock was the best brooding pirate hero that has tickled my fancy in a long time! Now Jack, oh man I can’t imagine having a little brother like him! Well written, indeed. If you love anything like P&P or the such, then this book is perfect for you! I thank the author for this book through Interviews and Reviews. This is my own honest opinion. ![]() Reviewer: Lori Parrish Hmm ... kind of a weird family if you ask me but in some ways they remind me of my own family. I'm a mama too and I love to read. So the mama in this story is my favorite character. Like Sophie's mom whenever I read or finish a book I'm often left daydreaming or at least thinking about it. I kinda like Sophie too. Kinda snooty at times but then again aren't we all? I don't think she was shallow at all! She's flawed like the rest of us and that is what makes me like her. Now, the one who comes off rather snooty is Captain Edward Murdock. Does the name Murdock sound familiar? Officer Murdock of the Titanic. Jack is my most favorite character. His energy is just never ending and I love his sense of humor. Little bit on the weird side but hey he sort of reminds me of me! Boys will be boys as they say. But I don't go so far as to sling something at the neighbors even though there's time's I'd like to. I think the title this time caught my attention on this book. The cover isn't very flattering and in some ways I don't think it goes well with the story as much as the title does. I still gave it five stars because I love the story itself. The author has managed to pull this plot off well. The characters were wonderful and I think most readers will be like me and love the Mama. How she can read and keep the household together is amazing!! I couldn't have done it. I'd be too interested in my book. I think this book will be one that readers will enjoy. I know I did. I love staying up at night reading. It transports me away from the real world for awhile. And of course we have Sophie's pa who only want her married into a good family. I mean who wouldn't want that for their child. Overall, I loved this book. This book was provided courtesy of the author through Interviews & Reviews.
