She is Laura. She lives with her 8-year-old daughter. He is Sam, and he lives with a big Golder Retriever dog and his son. They deal with the loss of loved ones. They never meet each other.

The book is God-centred, realistic, and has wonderful characters. Reading it, I cried and thought how hard life is for so many people! Taking care of others is a must-do thing.

I found this to be an emotionally charged story of how God can take the brokenness of our lives and turn it into something beautiful! I also think it shows that nobody escapes the hard stuff, even as Christians.

I like how honest Sam is when he tells Laura he walked away from God because He didn't prevent his wife from dying a senseless death. We have all questioned why bad things happen to good people and wonder why God didn't stop it. I love how He understands those authentic thoughts of our hearts!

Laura shows by her life that clinging to God instead of walking away can give us hope & comfort. It didn't prevent her from going through grief, but it gave her someone to turn to when life became too much. I love how it ministered to Sam and helped change his heart. Restoration is God's specialty!

Even though this is a short story, it doesn't feel flat or lifeless. There's plenty packed into it to keep you engaged in the lives of Sam and Laura and their kids. There's always hope in Christ when we put our trust in Him. I very much enjoyed reading this book!
