Kids are interested in animals. Kimberly Payne has done her research. Animals in the Bible looks at over 40 animals that are found in the Bible. For each animal she starts with a Scripture passage that references the animal. She continues with a short synopsis of the story followed by a list of facts regarding the animal. The text is interesting and the information would be useful for primary students doing research about animals. It could also be used by teachers as part of Bible lessons or classroom devotions.
I was disappointed by the illustrations in Animals in the Bible. Janis Cox used black and white sketches to illustrate the text. They are fairly well done, but kids look for brightly colored and generally reject books with black and white illustrations.
Animals in the Bible could find a place in K-12 Christian school library. It could be a useful resource book.
