Picture
Today, please join me in welcoming author Robert Russell to I & R. A non-fiction Christian author, Robert Lloyd Russell has won 11 book awards. He is also the editor of a unique book containing transcribed spoken messages of martyred missionary Jim Elliot. Jim’s father was one of Mr. Russell’s spiritual mentors.

Robert earned a Master of Christian Leadership degree from Western Seminary. He is a popular adult Bible Study leader and refers to himself as a simple A-B-C kind of guy. Christian Author, Christian Blogger, and Christian Consultant and Coach. His blog is entitled Abundant Life Now and has been read in over 200 hundred countries.

Today he is going to talk to us about his latest book God's Desire: How to Please God. And he is giving away 5 ebooks to 5 lucky winners!

Robert, welcome to Interviews & Reviews!

How many books have you written?

I’ve written three print books and edited another, which contains four transcribed messages of martyred missionary Jim Elliot.  Currently, I am publishing four eBooks per year, some of which are updates to my print books.

Which do you enjoy more, the research part for a book, or the writing?

Both, equally and simultaneously.  I am not the kind of writer who just sits down and writes a book. My books are in process for years as I work on multiple books in an ongoing research/writing process. The result is that my writing has been described as concise and thought-provoking, and I have won six book awards.

What is the central theme of God's Desire: How to Please God?

It is about understanding what God wants from His children. It begins with a compact overview of the main components of “The will of God,” then develops two graphic models explaining what God desires from His children: “The Christian Life Model” and “The Christian Guidance Model.”

What inspired you to write this book?

The topic became relevant to me while teaching an adult Sunday School class, and I developed the two graphic models in a period of about 72 hours.

Is there a message in your book that you want your readers to grasp?

My message would echo something Charles Spurgeon once said: “Visit many good books but live in the Bible.”

Do you have any other eBooks?

Yes. Three in my Christian Concepts Series, and one that contains six transcribed messages by martyred missionary Jim Elliot (whom I knew personally when I was a young boy). GOD’S DESIRE: How To Please God, is the first of three in my Christian Growth Series and that series will be followed by at least three in my Christian Theology Series.  Work is underway on all of these.

What is your favorite Scripture verse, and why?

Isaiah 40:31, which I call the verse for seniors. “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”  Notice the reverse progression: from flying to running to walking – that’s why I call it the verse for seniors.

When is your next book due out, and can you tell us about it?

GOD’S LIGHT: How To Respond is due out right after the first of the year, followed by CHRIST’S DISCIPLE: How To Finish Strong in late March.

Thank you for stopping by Robert. And now, Dear Readers, you have the chance to win an eBook of God's Desire! Five winners will be chosen. This giveaway ends October 1, 2020. Winners will be announced here and on our Facebook page.

Congratulations to Linda Klager! You have won an ebook of God's Desire!

Insights for all levels of spiritual maturity.

This book starts with the complex subject of the will of God presented in an innovative, easy-to-understand, and quick-read format that concisely explains the three main components of God’s will. This is critical to understanding how to please God.

The illustrated “Christian Life Model” and “Christian Guidance Model” graphically display what God desires from His children and how they can be assured of making correct decisions throughout their lives. The book closes with a concise description of the benefits of following the two models.

Significant material is included for additional study at the end of chapters for individuals or groups. Are you unsure you are operating at your full Christian life potential? If so, this book is for you! This is an intensely practical book for Christians of all maturity levels!
