Erin Stevenson Interview

Picture
Today, I am pleased to talk to Erin Stevenson, currently one of our April Book of the Month nominees, for her book Plan B. And did I mention she is going to give away a copy to one lucky reader? Erin writes inspirational fiction and released her first three-book series in 2018. Mom to four, Nana to three, all of whom she loves just slightly more than plain M & Ms.

Erin, welcome to I & R!

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing fiction for about five years. In an earlier life, I had some academic articles published.

What inspired you to write Plan B?

I was driving down the highway one day (on my way to the library, go figure) and a car passed me with a license plate that read NOPLANB. It reminded me that my mother had always taught me to have a Plan B, advice that has served me well. By the time I got to the library, a story had taken shape in my mind about a jilted bride who needed to come up with a Plan B for the rest of her life.

Neat! Do you have any other books in the works?

I absolutely love book series, so I introduced two minor characters in Plan B, the hero’s brother and the heroine’s sister, with the thought that they could have their own story. That’s how Home to You was born, and after that, Bait and Switch, to round out the three-book St. Clair Family series.

When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?

In 2014, I began writing a four-book series about an intelligence operative and a senator’s daughter. I took a break from that in 2018 to write the St. Clair Family series, and went back to work on it with the intent of releasing the first book sometime in 2019. But out of the blue, another story came slamming into my head at the beginning of May, and now I'm deep into that one. It's coming together very quickly and we'll be able to publish it this year. It's a great story and I absolutely adore the characters. I can't wait to introduce them to my readers.

What do you do when you aren’t writing?

I’m usually having conversations in my head, setting up scenes, thinking about my characters…for hours on end. Then, when I sit down at the computer, it just flows out onto the screen…most of the time.

What authors have inspired you?

There are so many outstanding inspirational fiction writers, but these come to mind: Becky Wade, Tracie Petersen, Colleen Coble, Irene Hannon, Julie Klassen. Really…I could go on!

And finally, what is your favourite Scripture verse and why?

Again…so many, but hands down it is the last part of Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” In the darkest period of my life, all I could do was utter these words over and over, and God was faithful. He is faithful, every moment, every day.

Indeed He is! Thank you Erin. And now Dear Readers, if you would like to win a copy of Plan B, fill out the form below. This contest is open to residents of the USA and Canada. Print copies are available for U.S. residents only. This contest ends May 21, 2019.

Congratulations to Renee Kinlaw!
You are the new winner of Plan B.
I will be emailing you soon.

Landon St. Clair was left at the altar on New Year’s Day at St. Louis’ social event of the season. He wants nothing more than to lick his wounds in solitude and figure out a Plan B, and intends to keep his reservation at the St. Jardin Honeymoon Resort, even without a bride. With the owners’ reluctant approval, Landon takes on an assumed identity and cuts all ties to home for the week.

Kelsea Anderson is a jilted bride with nothing left but a battered heart and a plane ticket to the Caribbean. The only part of her doomed wedding that she had any say in was the honeymoon. She paid for it, and there’s no reason she can’t come to the romantic resort alone, so Kelsea jumps on a plane the day after New Year’s to escape the icy St. Louis winter and come up with a Plan B for the rest of her life.

Lottery winners Rose and Ike Goldman, married for 53 years, never looked back when they left Brooklyn, NY for the Caribbean where they bought a honeymoon resort three years ago. Rose was something of a matchmaker in Brooklyn, and once she meets Kelsea and “Brandon,” she knows she has her work cut out for her. She has only a week to convince them that sometimes, Plan B is the best plan of all.

Take a quick getaway to St. Jardin! Plan B is your ticket to a tropical paradise filled with beautiful gardens, merriment, and romance.
