There’s Often a Fine Line Between a Criminal and a Saint
Constable Jackson Forge intends to make the world safer, or at least the streets of Victorian London. But that’s Kit Turner’s domain, a swindler who runs a crew that acquires money the old-fashioned way—conning the rich to give to the poor. When a local cab driver goes missing, Jackson is tasked with finding the man, and the only way to do that is by enlisting Kit’s help. If Jackson doesn’t find the cabby, he’ll be fired. If Kit doesn’t help Jackson, he’ll arrest her for thievery. Yet neither of them realize those are the least of their problems.

If you are looking for a fun book with a bit of danger, a touch of romance and a Dickensian feel, look no further than The Thief of Blackfriars Lane by Michelle Griep.
I feel like I've just been through a labyrinth of tunnels, smelled the Thames in London and been charmed by a cheeky thief/not a thief who is an angel in disguise. Kit Turner is the ultimate Robin Hood, and she has beguiled Constable Jackson Forge with her beauty, wit, quick thinking and soft heart. She is not one who will easily place her trust in someone, but Jackson Forge has something that she wants, and while the good Constable is wary of trusting Kit and her crew, he must if he wants to keep his job.
This book is filled with humour, plot twists and a beautiful theme of trusting in God, something our two main characters have to learn first hand during challenging circumstances.
My only disappointment is that it appears to be a standalone novel. I was looking forward to more escapades by these characters. I will miss them!
If you haven't read The Thief of Blackfriars Lane, do yourself a favour and pick it up. You won't regret it!
I received a copy of this book courtesy of Barbour Publishing through NetGalley, for my honest opinion.
