Frankie's Heart

Picture
Author: M. Jean Pike
Genre: Contemporary Romance

When recent widow Frankie Bonetti unexpectedly loses her job, she's faced with a terrifying decision: look for new employment in Cincinnati, or start life over elsewhere. She accepts a position in the small city of Port Arthur and buys a charming fixer-upper. Like Frankie, the house is unloved and unappreciated and she is determined to give it a second chance. She hires local contractor, Tracy Johanson, to make the necessary repairs, not knowing he will restore both her house and her heart.

Devastated by the death of his wife and estranged from his only son, Tracy tells himself he’d rather be alone than risk the pain of another failed relationship. Then he meets Frankie, whose genuineness and kindness make him want to try again.

When the storms that rage are both internal and external, they must put their faith in each other and in God, the healer of old wounds and creator of new beginnings.

This beautiful story starts out with a beautiful cover. I was taken in by the cover before I ever read anything about the story-line. This is my first exposure to Jean Pike, and I love her. She writes such a heartwarming and at the same time, a heartbreaking, sweet love story. There are so many wonderfully complex characters. I loved this story and all of the characters. I could not put it down. Jean Pike is such an incredible storyteller. She will have you hooked within the first few pages.

Frankie Bonetti is becoming such a strong, independent woman. Shortly after becoming a widow, she takes on a new job, with a new house, in a new town. She has a heart of gold, and she wants to rescue everyone, and everything, even her rundown fixer-upper of an old house. It needed her! Just a warning, make sure you have tissues handy. Some of the relationships, friendships, and some of the rescues were not all sunshine and roses.

Tracy Johanson is a widower who has suffered his own loss, not just losing his wife. The easiest way for him to get by is to withdraw from everyone and everything. He oversees his company, does his job and goes home to his frozen dinners. Little did he know, that one call to Frankie's house giving her an estimation for some home improvements would change his life.

I enjoyed this book by Jean Pike and can not wait to read another. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet, well written, clean, love story.
