Ready to become a book reviewer for us? Here is what you need to know!
With so many people reviewing books from various religious backgrounds it was necessary to establish a mission statementand to establish guidelines as a foundation on what is expected from all our reviewers. If you can agree with our mission statementand you can meet the guidelines below you are welcome to join our team.
Rules & Guidelines
First and most importantly, this is a ministry to serve other Christians and to bring glory to God. Therefore, we do not review books that include excessive violence, sexual situations or vulgar language. However, sometimes, books are submitted that don't meet those standards. We don't know what is in a book until we read it. If you, as a reviewer, find something unacceptable it is expected you will notify Laura Davis immediately.
Because we sometimes run across inappropriate books, we have an age limit for our reviewers. You must be at least 16 years of age to be able to participate in our program.
Reviews must be posted within two weeks of the receipt of your book.Reviews must be between 150 words (bare minimum) and/or up to 400 words. Please send your review to Laura Davis in the body of an email.
If your book does not arrive after one month, inform me immediately.
You do not have to select a book every month, however, you must commit to reviewing at least six books a year in order to remain on the team.
Life happens, and sometimes illness or personal problems can derail us from good intentions. If you find yourself unable to finish a book on time, please let me know.
A link with a selection of books is sent to all reviewers each month. Long-time reviewers may select three books at a time. New reviewers may select one book only. This restriction is lifted after three reviews are turned in.
All books submitted must be read in their entirety, unless you come across inappropriate situations like excessive violence, vulgar language or sexual situations. Yes, some books are hard to get through, but the author has spent money to send you their book, and they are expecting a review - good or bad.
All review ratings should be based on our Rating System, copies of which are available to every reviewer. Using it helps you be objective when reviewing difficult to read books.
We do not give half-stars for reviews.
We print all reviews. So be kind, encouraging and offer suggestions for books that get lower reviews. A good author will take your opinions and learn from them.
