Ready to become a book reviewer for us? Here is what you need to know!
Interviews & Reviews was created by me, Laura Davis, to help Christian authors get the word out about their books and to help Christian readers find those books. It is a ministry I have had since 2008. In 2015 I took a brief break as the number of books coming in far exceeded my abilities to carry on alone. So I asked God for direction on whether or not I should continue, because as an author myself, I was finding it hard to write my own books and read and review others. So I began by asking God to send me ten reviewers if He wanted me to continue in this ministry. He sent me 27. Today, a dedicated team of over 50 reviewers help ease the workload while providing a broader selection of reviews on various genres. With books from both professionally published authors and Indie authors, Christian readers are able to find Christian books, and Christian authors can make new fans. We have literally become the "middle-man" for authors to find reviewers for their books.
However, I discovered with so many people reviewing books from various religious backgrounds it was necessary to establish a mission statement and to establish guidelines as a foundation on what is expected from all our reviewers. If you can agree with our mission statementand you can meet the guidelines below you are welcome to join our team.
Rules & Guidelines
First and most importantly, this is a ministry to serve other Christians and to bring glory to God. Therefore, we do not review books that include excessive violence, sexual situations or vulgar language. However, sometimes, books are submitted that don't meet those standards. We don't know what is in a book until we read it. If you, as a reviewer, come across a book like this notify me immediately.
Because we sometimes run across inappropriate books, I am now forced to set an age limit for our reviewers. You must be at least 16 years of age to be able to participate in our program.
I ask that you post a review within one month of the receipt of your book. Please send your review to me in the body of an email.
If your book does not arrive after three weeks, inform me immediately.
You do not have to select a book every month, however, you must commit to reviewing at least six books a year in order to remain on the team.
Life happens, and sometimes illness or personal problems can derail us from good intentions. If you find yourself unable to finish a book on time, please let me know.
A link with a selection of books is sent to all reviewers each month. Reviewers may select one book at a time and may choose more only after their reviews are turned in.
All books submitted must be read in their entirety, unless you come across inappropriate situations like excessive violence, vulgar language or sexual situations. Yes, some books are hard to get through, but the author has spent money to send you their book, and they are expecting a review - good or bad.
All review ratings must be based on our Rating System, copies of which are available to every reviewer. Using it helps you be objective when reviewing difficult to read books.
We do not give half-stars for reviews.
We print all reviews. So be kind, encouraging and offer suggestions for books that get lower reviews. A good author will take your opinions and learn from them.
