 Reviewer: Carolyn Bryant Whispers in the Valley, a beautifully crafted continuation of the Sisters of the Heart saga, is a heartwarming return to the inviting 1880s Texas Hill Country town of Carr Valley. The expertly designed plot and compelling characters captured my attention from the start and kept me fully engaged, surpassing my high expectations. The main story follows Victoria Holton, who, because of her father’s scandal, departs Philadelphia and travels to Carr Valley. There she seeks solace with Sophia, her “sister of the heart,” to rebuild her life and prove her worth. There she also meets Peter Mulholland, a pastor with doubts about his ministerial calling to Carr Valley, and an unexpected, sweet romantic relationship slowly develops. It was a joy to reunite with Sophia and Phoebe and gain more insight into their stories, also. Phoebe and Rex’s tender secondary romance, which unfolds against the backdrop of an absorbing mystery, enriches the story. I greatly appreciate the Christian values woven into the narrative, emphasizing trusting God and His perfect plan for working all things for good. If you enjoy historical fiction layered with faith, friendship, family drama, romance, and mystery, I recommend this book as a must read! I look forward to the next book in this wonderful series. Didn’t like him at first. Victoria is the one whom I was rooting for. I liked her instantly. This is her story. She’s an amazing person. I loved how she stood up for herself. Wish I were more like her. Carr Valley is an awesome place to live. I feel like it’s my home with some awesome friends that I made along the way. There were some places that made me smile, but there were others that I didn’t like. Cabot is one of my favorite writers, and I always look forward to her stories. 5 stars for this amazing read! Her sister of the heart, Sophia, lives in Texas and has accepted Victoria to come and stay with her. As Victoria is searching for a new purpose, she discovers a mystery that needs to be solved. Peter Mulholland is the town pastor. He has dedicated his life to his flock. He was given an ultimatum by his deacons to find a wife or step down from his post. As Peter is trying to figure out what his future holds, he meets a woman he can’t forget. As he is growing in feelings for a new town guest, a mysterious man arrives who changes everything. This story is amazing! It is action-packed from the first page to the last. I fell in love with all of the characters. I was honestly sad when it ended. This is a must-read!
