Author: Leslie Gould Genre: Amish Romance Series: Letters From Lancaster Country #2 Pages: 368 Release Date: March 17, 2026 Publisher: Bethany House Publishers A gently humorous just friends romance from Leslie Gould, threaded with heart-deep characters and the timeless traditions of simple Amish life. It's love at first sight for Adam Slaybaugh, yet while Joanna Grebel finds him attractive and is intrigued when he declares his interest, she's less certain of the potential for a romantic future together. Instead, she proposes they be "just friends," but Adam's not willing to settle for anything less than a romantic relationship. In response, he leaves Lancaster County for Florida, and soon after, Joanna begins courting Jacob Byer--someone she deems a much more suitable match. When Adam returns to Lancaster County years later to pursue a career in his grandparents' successful home renovation business, he finds Joanna suffering from a broken heart. Misunderstandings and matchmaking schemes begin a tender journey of healing and romance--but is Adam's love enough to finally win Joanna over? Reviewer: Lori Parrish I loved this friends to lover story. I simply couldn’t put it down! I really hated to say goodbye to Adam and Joanna. I think the theme is trust, hope, and love are the main themes of this love story. I loved how God has perfect timing. I sure didn’t like Nehemiah. He was selfish. It saddened my heart to see him like that. I also didn’t like Jacob. I think he was confused. He really didn’t know what he wanted. The grandmother’s stories made me laugh. Especially a particular one. I love Gould’s stories, and this one was no exception. I want to share a quote that I really liked and it’s really true! “Any Amish man and Amish woman who were committed to each other and Gott could make a marriage work.” “Love is what matters, but so does Freindschaft. You have to have both. I believe it’s a solid friendship that gets you through the years. Life can be hard—marriage should make it easier.” Yes! Yes! Yes! It has to be with the right person in my opinion, or it won’t work. That’s just me. I agree with Lu in this regard. I hope she writes more. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author. She deserves more than 5 stars for this one. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Bethany House Publishers through Interviews & Reviews via NetGalley for my honest opinion. Reviewer: Elizabeth Eckmeyer This is a beautifully written story about friendship and romance. I have read stories by Leslie Gould before. She is a talented writer. Her work is very engaging and keeps you wanting to know more! Joanna Grabble is a young woman who comes to live with her grandparents. During this time so many changes happen with her family and herself. She first meets Adam and quickly realizes there is someone else for her. Things don’t go the way she hoped, and she begins to change for the better. Adam Slaybaugh is in love with Joanna the moment he sees her. He holds on to his love for her when she starts dating another man, and he decides to leave for Florida. Eventually he comes back to help his grandparents with their business. This story was good and easy to get lost in. I loved the town of characters. I was frustrated with Joanna, who never saw what was actually good for her. She was always looking at the worst of every situation. I was also frustrated by some of the characters that worked against the happiness of the story. I just felt frustrated through most of the story. All in all, it was good, and so was the ending.
