A missing woman. Two hit men. When every second counts, who will survive?

In the stark but beautiful wilds of northern New Mexico, a couples' retreat at a luxury resort turns into a chilling nightmare when a woman vanishes. Skip tracer Riley MacLeod and private investigator Greyson Chadwick pose as a couple to hunt for clues that might reveal the missing woman's location. Those leads uncover a harrowing truth: They're not the only ones looking for her. What begins as a normal tracking case turns into a deadly chase when they, too, become the hunted.

As Riley and Greyson work together, their partnership ignites a tumultuous attraction, but Greyson's secrets prevent him from acting on his feelings for her, and Riley can't bring herself to fully trust him. Delving deeper into the case, they find themselves fighting not only for justice and the chance at a loving relationship . . . but also for their very survival.

This twisty mystery will pull you in from the beginning pages. This is the second book in the Jeopardy Falls series. You do not have to read book #1 because the author does a fine job of bringing you up to speed. However, I would recommend reading it as well.

A woman has gone missing from a couple’s retreat at a swanky resort. It was as if she had vanished without a trace. Riley MacLeod is a skip tracer with her private investigation business, so she seems the perfect person for the job. Since the retreat is a couple’s retreat, private investigator Greyson Chadwick goes with her undercover to the retreat.

I started getting icky feelings immediately after they arrived at the retreat. The people that worked at the retreat were all up in your business. It seemed there was no privacy. Riley and Greyson are very observant and notice things that the average person would not notice. As they are investigating, they are also fighting attraction for one another, but both of them are professional and do not want anything to get in the way of their investigation.

This mystery was just right. It was a slow build as they worked out the puzzle pieces and players involved. It also had just the right amount of action, and it was twisty enough to keep you guessing. The budding romance was perfect as well. Their journey for justice is fraught with danger all along the way. It was an emotional read on so many different levels for different characters as you learn more about the mystery and the characters’ parts in the story. If you enjoy Christian romantic suspense, this will be a perfect read for you.

Two couples, one on the run and one seeking answers, Two Seconds Too Late is full of enough twists and turns to make you dizzy.

A mysterious key, a missing friend, and danger around every corner is just the beginning for Riley MacLeod. When Kelly disappears from a wellness retreat, Riley goes undercover with Greyson, her secret crush. Then things get interesting.

For me, this book was hard to get in to at the beginning. It may have been the two groups of people to follow. I’m not sure, but as I got into the book, I connected more with the story. Dani Pettrey is one of my favorite authors and I look forward to her next book.

This series just keeps getting better and better. This is the second book in the series. I feel this one has more action in it. I was kept on the edge of my seat and holding my breath in certain scenes.

Riley and Grayson are two of my favorite people. I enjoyed in getting to know them. They know how to get things done.

A wonderful plot that sometimes makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and will make you feel that someone’s actually watching you. A scary feeling, for sure.

I also loved the slow burn romance between these two people. I found myself rooting for them.

This book also has the right amount of faith in it, which I loved. It was one of the many reasons that I kept turning the pages. I also learned a few things from this story as well.

Pettrey does an amazing job in keeping her readers entertained and taking a few lessons in life away with them long after the story is finished. I just really enjoyed the story of Riley and Grayson. I was sad when it ended but also pleased. It made my heart full and satisfied.

Five stars for the excellent writing and for keeping the story realistic. I highly recommend it.

My thanks to Bethany House Publishers for a copy of this book through Interviews & Reviews and NetGalley.
