Author: Lynette Eason Genre: Romantic Suspense Series: Soldiers in Shadows #1 Pages: 352 Release Date: August 4, 2026 Publisher: Revell He came to protect a witness. She came to teach survival skills. Now they're targets with an enemy who won't let either of them walk away. FBI agent Sully Sullivan arrives at Broken Chains Ranch with Ollie Callahan--a foster teen and sole witness to a mob hit. The ranch, started by Sully's cousin to provide a trauma recovery facility for veterans, should be a place he can keep Ollie safe until the trial. But what was meant as a peaceful haven becomes a battleground when armed attackers surround the property. Survival expert Elena Thompson teaches wilderness skills at the ranch and coaches Ollie in self-defense. As the series of attacks on the ranch escalates into a full siege, the question becomes who the attackers are after: Ollie, the young witness? Or Elena, with her mysterious past? With communications down and help out of reach, Sully and Elena fight to keep everyone alive as secrets and danger close in. Reviewer: Anna Bottoms Suspense doesn’t begin to describe this book, as danger lurks around every corner, and you never know which direction it will come from next. Top this off with a witness hiding from the mob and another possibly being targeted by a local prepper cult from which she’s broken ties. Don’t plan on sleeping tonight. You won’t be able to put this one down. Sully is a character I really like. He’s dedicated to the job of keeping Ollie safe and manages to show that it’s not just duty but he really cares. He’s determined to keep both Ollie and Elena safe, even if it’s despite themselves. Elena is self sufficient and not all that trusting when it comes to men. She’s torn about her sister still being with the preppers, but she knows better than most the trouble they could be in. She also finds herself a little too much aware of Sully. The premise of the story is a little different in an entirely good way and sets this book apart. It’s well written, tightly plotted, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I was given a copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews via NetGalley, and this is my honest opinion of the book. Reviewer: Lori Parrish Y’all, this may be my favorite Lynette Eason book yet! Oh my! I love each and every one of these delightful characters. Wow! I kept turning the pages to find out what happened next. Eason has a way of doing that to me. I loved every minute of this story. I couldn’t put it down until the end. I wanted to add a little quote: “Sometimes you can do everything right, and then everything goes wrong.” How true. This book has action and adventure all the way through. What more could a reader want?! I can’t wait for the next story to come out! There’s also faith and hope throughout this story. I found myself cheering them on as they were figuring out to get out of their situation and who was after whom and why. Was it Ollie or Elena? 5 stars for a job well done! I received a complimentary copy from Revell through Interviews & Reviews and NetGalley. Leave a Reply. |
