Author: Amy Lynn Green Genre: Historical Fiction Pages: 384 Release Date: November 17, 2026 Publisher: Bethany House Publishers When the war rewrites their dreams, the Alcott sisters discover that sisterhood is the one force strong enough to carry them through. When World War II pulls the Alcott sisters in different directions, Joan is restless for a new start after turning down a proposal from her best friend Lawrence Whitman and watching her writing dreams crumble under constant rejection. Determined to serve her country, she joins Philadelphia's streetcar workforce as a wartime "Rosie," but as tensions rise on the rails during the city's darkest days, her courage is tested in ways she never imagined. Meanwhile, youngest sister Amelia once hoped of becoming an animator in California, but those aspirations have faded. Uncertain what to do next, she enlists in the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service and finds herself in Florida, training navy gunners in a tropical outpost, far from the glamorous coast she hoped for. In this sun-soaked corner of the war effort, Amelia searches for purpose, but romance and duty prove more complicated than she anticipated. In a world remade by war, Joan and Amelia discover that purpose and love can be found in the most unexpected places. Reviewer: Lori Parrish Another beautiful story by Amy Lynn Green that I thoroughly enjoyed. I simply couldn’t put this wonderful novel down. I stayed up late to finish it because of all the wonderful characters that soon became my friends. I loved laughing, crying, and rejoicing with them. Only one particular character got on my nerves, and that was Joan’s friend Lonnie. He only thought of himself. I think of all of those characters that I enjoyed, Peggy was my most favorite. I just loved her personality. Joan was next. She’s the free spirit child. I think that’s why I loved her most. Lots of things going on in this novel of forgiveness, love, and faith, last of all family. There’s only one thing that I didn’t care for much. Told from each character’s point of view. Kind of made me feel as if I’m reading several stories in one book, but after a while I figured it out. However, it did flow smoothly without missing a beat, but I guess I’m not used to reading books like that. It does kind of let you know each character better than you normally would. However, because I enjoyed the storyline, I’m still giving it 5 stars for a wonderful, heartfelt novel. I received this book from Bethany House Publishers through interviews & Reviews via NetGalley for my honest opinion. Leave a Reply. |
