Picture
Author: Elizabeth Goddard
Genre: Romantic Suspense/Thriller
Series: Hidden Bay #1
Pages: 352
Release Date: February 18, 2025
Publisher: Revell

Haunted by a half-forgotten past, former army photographer Remi Grant is working at an isolated storm-watching lodge on the rocky Washington coast when she receives a mysterious puzzle piece. The puzzle piece may be the catalyst to unlock a disturbing incident she struggles to remember--the event that sent her into hiding. But with heavy storms rolling in, she has to focus on the present, not get caught up in the past.

When a mysterious man at the lodge saves her life--twice--Remi becomes suspicious and confronts him. After a catastrophic event in his own life, former military pilot Hawk Beckett is trying to get some perspective at the suggestion of his former commanding officer. Faced with the fiercest storm to hit the coast in a decade, Remi and Hawk are forced into survival mode. But they're not alone at the lodge.

Someone doesn't want Remi to remember what happened--and they will stop at nothing to see her dead.

Hidden Bay is a place for people to go to get away from trouble that is following them. A place off the grid where the conveniences we use that tracks us can no longer. Or so that is what Remi is hoping as she tries to remember the missing parts of her memory that have been blocked off to her.

She really wants to remember as someone else is sending her literal puzzle pieces, trying to jog her memory for her. And is this the same person who keeps trying to harm her? All Remi knows is she thought she was safe at Hidden Bay, and given enough time and peace, she might have remembered. Now she is running for her life with a hero turned bodyguard she just met and doesn’t even know she can completely trust.

Enter Hawk Beckett who remembers his past but would like to escape it. When he first saves Remi, he notices that the evidence seems to add up to foul play and is not an accident. There is something about her that intrigues him so much that he doesn’t mind keeping an eye on her. Unfortunately, as they find out, they are more connected than ever. Every one of them, including the other employees and all the visitors and even the town.

This story started off right away as an explosive beginning right into the whole series. There is a lot going on, plenty of danger and many moving parts. I liked seeing how it all flowed together. I am really looking forward to this whole series. I think this is author Goddard’s best book yet.

Wow! This one had me up all night to finish reading it. Each time I turned the page, I was excited to see what was happening next.

Remi loved living at Cedar Trails Lodge in the Pacific Northwest, but the real reason she was there was because she was hiding. She can’t remember a certain frame of time in her life, and someone wants to make sure she dies. But why? She just can’t remember.

Remi is fearful someone has found her and she will have to leave her beloved lodge to survive. But one person will do whatever he can to save her. Hawk is staying in one of the cabins, and he just happens to be where Remi needs him at the right time. The two are on a wild journey to find out who doesn’t want Remi to be around.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Storm Warning! I loved all the action, suspense, thrills, chills and sweet romance, and really everything else about this book. Author Elizabeth Goddard does a phenomenal job writing this book. The characters find their way into your heart and won’t let you forget this story.

If you love the thrills of Suspense and Mysteries, I encourage you to pick this book up and try it. You will be so glad you did. I’m giving Storm Warning five stars. I wish we had more stars to give on this one.

This was a page turner from the get-go, with nonstop action and heart pounding scenes of danger.

Remi has hidden at Cedar Trails Lodge in the Pacific Northwest for two years, trying to recoup her memories after a close call with death. The storm of the decade is approaching, but so is someone who is after Remi, urging her to remember before it’s too late. Hawk comes to her rescue more than once, and he becomes the one person she can trust.

This plot was very complicated, with many twists and uncertainty lurking in the background. The characters were focused on doing the right thing, even with limited knowledge.

The author gave Remi a strong faith to sustain her, even when she has gaps in her memory. Hawk is weaker in his faith, but it grows as the story unfolds. They rely on God when things get tough and boy, do they get tough.

Riveting, action, and things that are not what they seem had me turning pages until the end.

I am a mystery kind of woman, and I thrive on it. So, Elizabeth Goddard’s way of telling mystery is amazing. I can usually guess what is going to happen or have my suspicions, but I could not with this one. I rather enjoyed the surprise she presented in it. This is a mystery book that has left me in awe. What a start for this year.

I am not into the whole amnesia trope, but Elizabeth Goddard has made me reconsider. The romance in the mystery novels is my favorite part, and Elizabeth Goddard does such an amazing job of distributing it with the mystery. Hawk has become a new favorite for me. I liked how they grew together as the story progressed.

The characters rely on God and pray, so that is a positive for me. At times, it felt kinda forced, but for the most part, it was nice.

“She just had to focus and climb. She’d be up on top soon. Otherwise, she’d be swept away forever.”

Remi Grant’s efforts to rescue a little dog along the rocky cliffs of the Washington coast was a race against tides, and one that Remi was in present danger of losing, until the strong hand of a total stranger pulls her to safety, setting off a series of events that makes Remi wonder if she really wants to remember what her mind is determined to forget.

Former military pilot Hawk Beckett has come to the Cedar Trails Lodge to adjust his outlook on the future. When he sees the lodge manager dangling off the rungs of a shredded rope ladder, he springs into action. But it’s obvious the lady is suspicious underneath her polite gratitude. It doesn’t take long before the two are thrown together again. Hawk manages to save Remi’s life for the second time in one day.

What is going on?

With dizzying speed, this story jumps headfirst into a labyrinth of forgotten details, frantic determinations to sort out the truth, and an assortment of players whose motives remain tucked in the shadows. Following its rapid launch, the action decelerates into a comfortable, but mildly predictable holding pattern before accelerating again towards a didn’t-see-that-coming kind of landing. Fans of romantic suspense hang on for the ride!

After reading this story, all I can say is, wow! If you want constant action, suspense, mystery, and romance, read this story! You have it all. This author is talented.

Remi is ex-army with lost memories, and Hawk is ex-army with a failed mission. Remi ends up at a remote lodge with no internet and little cell service. She spends a few years trying to regain her memories. Suddenly, she receives puzzle pieces from an unmarked envelope, telling her to remember.

Hawk is sent to the lodge to take a break from the failed mission that ended his friend’s life. He is recovering and trying to figure out what to do next with his life.

An assassin comes to the lodge searching for Remi and her lost memories. Hawk becomes her protector. That is all I can tell about the basis of this story because I don’t want to give too much away. This is an action-packed story from beginning to end. It is definitely worth the read!

I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.
