Author: Mary Connealy Genre: Historical Romance Series: Golden State Treasure #3 Pages: 288 Release Date: October 7, 2025 Publisher: Bethany House Publishers When they leave the ranch in search of stolen treasure, will the spark between them survive the perils ahead? When an earthquake strikes Two Harts Ranch, it shakes the life of Annie Lane along with that of Cord Westbrook, who has been working as a cowboy on Annie's family ranch in anticipation of purchasing his own. The only thing delaying his plan is the deep attraction he feels toward Annie, a widow with a child and an established life as a teacher at the Hart School for Orphans. Unfortunately for Cord, she seems determined to avoid romance. The aftermath of the earthquake reveals that prized artifacts from the long-sought MacKenzie's Treasure have been stolen from the ranch. But the return of the MacKenzie family from out east has everyone focused on what other precious finds might be waiting at the end of the legendary two-part map. As Cord, Annie, and the MacKenzies set out in search of riches, they face dangers more treacherous than earthquakes. With gold in their sights and love within reach, Cord and Annie realize that some treasures may fade, but life's true riches are far more valuable than earthly goods. Reviewer: Lori Parrish This one was a blast to read! I didn’t like this series at the beginning, but if it makes sense, I loved the last book in this series! It sure went out with a bang. Started with one too and kept going. I think that’s what I really liked about this wonderful adventure. And an adventure it was! I finished this in a day because it was so good. I tried to hold off on it, but I couldn’t help myself. With the mention of the earthquake, I was hooked. I felt every inch of that earthquake, too. It definitely shook our beloved characters up quite a bit, too. Especially dear Annie. She's my favorite of the bunch, by the way. She has a tender and fearful heart, just like me! The mystery that surrounds this plot was an exciting one. I kept turning the pages to see how this novel would wrap up. I sure wasn’t disappointed. Faith, love and hope are the strongest messages along the way in this book. Forgiveness too. I was really pleased with this story. The cover is the best one in this series, too. So beautiful! Makes you want to know what the characters are running from or to. Connealy does add her trademark humor in certain spots, making me grin from ear to ear. There’s nothing like a Connealy story to make you smile and feel right at home on this awesome ranch. I definitely hated to see this love story end. Yes, some romance is involved along the way, too. Made me smile with happiness. I’m giving this amazing adventure 5 stars. Annie and Cord were wonderful characters that I truly enjoyed getting to know, as well as their huge family. I felt sad in saying goodbye to them. I highly recommend it! I received a complimentary copy from Bethany House Publishers through Interviews & Reviews via NetGalley for my honest opinion.
