Author: Elizabeth Goddard Genre: Mystery/Suspense Series: Hidden Bay #2 Pages: 352 Release Date: July 15, 2025 Publisher: Revell Three years after her mother's suspicious death, forensic artist Jo Cattrel is in hiding, working at a storm-watching lodge along the Washington coast. When her father sends her a disturbing and cryptic message, Jo leaves the safety of the lodge to find him. But during the ferry crossing, Jo witnesses a murder--and becomes a target. More surprising to Jo than being in danger is the identity of the person who steps in to protect her--none other than her ex, former Green Beret Cole Mercer. Now a private investigator, Cole has been looking into her mother's death. If he can just uncover the truth, maybe Jo can end her self-imposed captivity and the two of them can pick up the pieces and build a future together. As Cole and Jo search for answers, the past rushes in like a dangerous tide before the truth can be revealed. Reviewer: Laura Thomas A stormy backdrop in the Pacific Northwest is the moody setting for this nail-biting, action-packed Christian romantic suspense. Forensic artist Jo Cattrel faces danger, abandonment, and lies from those closest to her, until Cole Mercer—her heartbreaking former boyfriend and retired Green Beret—offers to help uncover the truth. A complex web of deceit goes back decades and has Jo questioning her mother’s death and father’s disappearance, while her undeniable attraction to Cole resurfaces as he puts his life on the line to save her. Murder, explosions, forgiveness, and a second-chances love story—this is definitely an “I’ll-just-read-one-more-chapter” kind of novel! This second book in the Hidden Bay series can be read as a stand-alone, but I thoroughly recommend reading Book 1 to fully appreciate the backstory. Now, I’m looking forward to Book 3… I received a complimentary copy from Revell through Interviews & Reviews in exchange for my honest opinion. Reviewer: Billi Varela I absolutely loved this book. It is a second chance romance. Cole and Jo both come out in Storm Warning. Although this book can be read without reading the first one, I recommend it because we see them in the other book. It starts off so good with Jo struggling to survive and in walks Cole. Cole had me from the very beginning. He is just so lovable. Both he and Jo have baggage. Baggage that keeps them from being together. But it is so beautiful how Elizabeth Goddard brings these two battered up souls together. I like the appearances from Storm Warning’s book, Remi and Hawk. I love how they are protective over the people that they love. This book is clean. However, there is a murder that happens on the page, but it is not detailed. There are also incidents that shall remain anonymous, that occur that go into a bit of detail, but it is not gory or anything like that. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through Interviews & Reviews. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own. Reviewer: Lori Parrish “God is good. I know you are God. It’s not you, but it’s people who have left me in pieces, who aren’t so good.” What a quote! I wish I could leave this as my review, but I know I can’t. This little quote sums up this book perfectly as to why. People are hideous at times, but they’re also those who are wonderful too. I really liked this book. It was about choices and who to believe and not believe. Fast-paced and mysterious goings-on are what kept me turning the pages. Jo is a wonderful character whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know. She and Cole too. Here’s another one: “One day soon, we’ll go back to the moon, Jo. I can feel it in my bones. I might even still be around by the time we make it to Mars. Only the Good Lord knows the future.” Yes, He does! It was just an all around nail-biting hair-raising adventure! 5 stars for a job well done! I highly recommend it. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion. Reviewer: Anna Bottoms Perilous Tides is the best romantic suspense I’ve read this year. It’s got everything needed, plus extra to keep me engaged and on the edge of my seat long into the night. I didn’t want to put it down. Who needs to sleep? The characters are so believable I felt like I was walking through their journey with them. Cole and Jo were complex, heroic, and had things to overcome, yet their flame hadn’t died over time. The chemistry between them was spot on and I loved how their relationship developed. The faith thread throughout the book wasn’t overt or preachy, but rather written in a way that brings true faith into everyday life. I appreciated faith written in the context of struggles, doubts, and also successes. Isn’t this how we walk out faith in our daily lives? The suspense had my heart pounding at times and the tension was perfectly paced throughout the book. There were also well spaced surprises that added to the overall excitement.. I highly recommend this book. I was given a copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews via NetGalley. This I my honest opinion of the book. Leave a Reply. |
