Genre: Thriller/Suspense/Romance
Series: Undaunted Courage #2
Release Date: October 1, 2024
Publisher: Revell

Someone is on a relentless campaign to destroy her credibility--if not her life.

Trauma survivor Lindsey Barnes hasn't fully recovered from the ordeal that almost took her life, and now she's in the middle of another crisis. Not only is she the sole witness in a high-profile murder case, but it also appears someone is trying to cast doubts on her mental stability.

Police detective Jack Tucker doesn't know what to make of her story, especially when her elusive enemy leaves no evidence behind to lend credence to her claims. Yet the more he gets to know the appealing personal chef, the more he's convinced someone is targeting not only her sanity, but her life.

And unless they can figure out who is behind the campaign to undermine her credibility, a murderer could slip away--leaving more than one body behind.

Lindsey Barnes can't seem to stay out of the limelight. She's just now recovering from an almost deadly incident, and she's right back into the limelight and another high-profile case that sends her on a wild goose chase to save her life in the book Over the Edge by Irene Hannon.

I really enjoy a good fast-paced, suspenseful thriller that keeps me on the edge of my seat and up all night if necessary, and this one did both! This riveting tale is so, good!

Lindsay Barnes ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time, which throws her right into the path of a murder scene. Following Lindsey throughout her journey was a task in itself. I felt bad for her because sometimes she felt so unstable, and the issues happening in her life didn't help matters either.

Dr. Oliver was a good psychiatrist who was excellent at walking Lindsay through her problems. I liked Jack as well. He was a good character and I enjoyed watching him and Lindsay grow as the story unfolds. It was fun watching him and Lindsey interact together throughout the book. Watching their sweet romance which wasn't so hot at first, but it blossomed out as the story progressed.

Over The Edge has its share of scrambling around to figure out all of the twists and turns throughout the story. I love this story and can't wait to read the next book in this series! There are surprises that I didn't see coming when all was revealed as well. Overall, it is a fantastic read!

If you enjoy good suspense, with a little mystery and a lot of fast-paced drama, and a lot of reading fun, you are in for a treat with Over the Edge by Irene Hannon. This one is getting Five Stars from me!

I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Bethany House Publishers through Interviews & Reviews, for my honest opinion.

As expected, Irene Hannon never fails to keep me hooked (intrigued) with her mystery books. There were so many directions she could have taken it, and I was pleased that it wasn’t so painfully obvious. I think in the back of my mind it was an option, but it seemed so far-fetched.

I liked Jack’s relationship with his sisters. It conveyed a softer side to the tough lifestyle that he had. It was refreshing to read a book where a guy that had vulnerabilities like every other person.

Lindsey had seen her fair share of trauma in her life. I liked that regardless of it all, she still had her faith, and even leaned on it when things seemed like they were piled up against her. I did wish that they would have delved more into her past.

I loved how they could cope with their traumas and get to find each other through everything.

Lindsey Barnes is taking it one day at a time after almost dying. Now she is a witness to a murder. This poor woman cannot catch a break.

Afterward, strange things start happening to Lindsey. Detective Jack Tucker is not sure what to believe. As they spend more time together, their feelings blossom and Jack believes someone is trying to mess with her head.

This was a high-intensity mystery with characters that were fully developed, and we saw them, flaws and all. The strange occurrences around Lindsey were very mysterious. I knew someone was playing extremely complex mind games, but I could not figure out who. I had my suspicions, but I was still a little shocked at the reveal.

This book is definitely a page-turner filled with great characters all around. Even though this is a mystery, redemption and rising above circumstances were key ingredients in this story line.

Thank you to Revell Books for this ARC through Interviews and Reviews. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

". . . . the murderer was between her and the back door."

Professional chef Lindsey Barnes' random trip back to her client's home to retrieve a forgotten knife roll unexpectedly positions her in the middle of a murder investigation. Yes, she had seen the perpetrator, but the person had been fully covered in dark clothing and from Lindsay's vantage point on the floor she had not been able to immediately recall any identifying factors.

Detective Jack Tucker is a bit skeptical of Lindsey's account, simply because she knew the victim and was on the scene when the man died. But his follow-up interviews centered around some completely different scenarios. Was she even a credible witness? The woman was seriously spooked. Add to the fact that she didn't warm up to him personally, which was curious . . . they had never met (he would have definitely remembered her!), motivating Jack to dig a little deeper into the life of the lovely chef.

So well written that the pages turned themselves . . . or at least it seemed that way. Impressive character depth, romantic brush strokes, carefully concealed indicators, and a climax that was virtually impossible to predict. Romantic suspense fans will be heralding this book as a fan favorite!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers through Interviews & Reviews for my honest review.
