Author: Lynn H. Blackburn
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Series: Gossamer Falls #3
Pages: 368
Release Date: March 3, 2026
Publisher: Revell

She's caught in a deadly game. He's the only one who can help her win.

Bronwyn Pierce has poured everything into The Haven, her family's exclusive mountain resort in Gossamer Falls. But when financial discrepancies surface and the numbers suggest something far darker than simple mismanagement, she's forced to call on the one person with the skills to help her: Mo Quinn, a former Army intelligence officer, her first love, and the last person she ever wanted to trust again.

Mo has spent years avoiding the woman he once loved and the secrets that tore them apart. But when Bronwyn calls, he can't walk away--especially when it's clear someone wants her gone for good. As they dig deeper into the treacherous motives behind a blackmail scheme, their proximity reignites long-buried feelings neither of them are ready to face. And when the evidence points to an unexpected culprit, Mo faces an impossible choice: trust the proof in front of him or trust his heart.

With danger closing in and no one else to turn to, Bronwyn must break years of silence with Mo to uncover who's trying to destroy The Haven. They'll have to risk everything--including their hearts--to expose the truth before it's too late.

"Her walls were coming down. She had to trust that he'd stand with her when the last one fell."

When Bronwyn Pierce suspects that something nefarious is going on between the lines of The Haven resort's financial spreadsheets, she resigns herself to asking the one person with whom she hasn't directly spoken to in years, Mo Quinn, to assist her. She and Mo have a conflicted history dating back to their childhood, when young love seemed as simple as holding hands by the waterfall.

Mo has been waiting. For what, he wasn't quite sure, but when Bronwyn expresses her need for his help, he puts his self-respect on the line and offers his technology skills. Unfortunately, keystrokes are no buffer against bullets and after realizing that the stakes are higher than anyone thought, Bronwyn's friends circle in tight, meaning that Mo and Bronwyn will eventually be forced to have the conversation that could make or break their hearts for good.

Honestly, I played tug-of-war through the first third of this book as I tried to determine whether or not I was reading a suspense sprinkled with romance or a romance sprinkled with suspense. Once I decided that this story was primarily a second chance romance I settled in and began deep diving between the shreds of Mo and Bronwyn's tattered past. As you might expect, the author did a remarkable job of replaying their circumstances while incrementally tiptoeing towards what would eventually become an amazing outcome.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from Revell through Interviews & Reviews.

“As they dig deeper into the treacherous motives behind a blackmail scheme, their proximity reignites long-buried feelings neither of them are ready to face,” the online description states of Lynn H. Blackburn’s novel, Last to Fall.

The third in the Gossamer Falls series, this 352-page advance reader copy is for readers who enjoy romantic suspense stories about forgiving the pain of the past to move on to the future. With no profanity but topics of verbal abuse, attempted murder, and death, it may not be appropriate for immature readers. The ending includes an excerpt from a new series by the author, her biography, and advertisements.

In this tale, thirty-four-year-old Bronwyn Pierce is now CEO of The Haven, an exclusive and secluded resort in North Carolina for the wealthy to get away. Although her family still holds the sins of her past against her, she is determined to uncover why she feels like she is being targeted. Mo Quinn, her first love whom she walked away from years ago and refuses to speak to, is the only one she trusts to help her find out who is after her and why.

This quick read shows how hurtful words can scar the heart over the years to the possible point of no return. I liked how Mo tried to be patient with Bronwyn until she was ready to clear the air between them. The haves and have-nots of local families were well determined and written. Although it is the third book in the series and I have not read the others, it is a stand-alone read.

Those who do not like a Christian-based story that centers on long-term friendships and forgiveness may not like this series, but only a few prayers and trusting in God are mentioned. Others may not care for the many characters intertwined in the previous books and revisited in this one.

Since there are three books in the series, a list of characters would be helpful for readers. While I appreciate the prayers, there is no mention of how to have a personal relationship with Jesus. I wish all pronouns of God were capitalized for reverence.

If you want to read a tender story about forgiving others and oneself while dealing with family feuds, you may fall for this one.

I received a complimentary copy from Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.

Finally! I have been waiting for Bronwyn and Mo to have their say. And, boy, there was a lot that needed to be said, even though the two did not talk to each other for the majority of the book. We got glimpses of their friendship and relationship through flashbacks, starting from when they first met and working forward to the present time.

It was a bit crazy how unhinged the Pierces were as a family and a wonder that Bronwyn turned out ok. The Quinn family was delightful as always, and I loved getting reacquainted with Cal and Landry, Meredith and Gray, and Donovan and Cassie.

Mo was a rock - steadfast, loyal, and logical - even in the face of threats and danger. I loved watching him with the multitude of children in the story. His heart-warming interactions with them added another dimension to his character. Bronwyn was strong, persistent, and dedicated to keeping The Haven a safe place for her guests even when she was under direct attack. I did not expect such a complex web of deceit to be at the root of trouble and danger, but it was quite satisfying when things were sorted out. I loved catching up with Sabrina and Adam from The Dive Team Investigation series in this book as they made their cameo appearance.

I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell via Interviews & Reviews and NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a positive comment, and all opinions are my own.
