Amazing message interlaced in this novel. It was a really good story, but I felt like the characters had no time to process the circumstances that came their way or fall in love. However, I know it could happen in real life, it’s just rare to see. Belle’s character made some decisions that left me perplexed. Robert was faithful in his walk with God. Yes, he was human, but he never lost who he was, which is something to be admired in a main character. Frank and Julie’s love story was a bit rushed, but given the circumstances, it could happen. I much preferred their love story in this book. I’d recommend this book to anyone who wants a Christian read. Yes, there is romance in this story, but it was more of a redemption book. With a backdrop of the great historical land grab in Oklahoma, outlaws, and opportunity, this book soon had me eagerly reading to find out what would happen next. Robert is a hard working man who has been secretly in love with Belle, his boss’s daughter. Though they are friends, he knows it’s all he can have because she’s soon to marry another man. When there is no wedding due to unexpected circumstances, Belle becomes bitter and vengeful. Frank, Belle’s brother, hates his father. He’s cold, demanding, and won’t let Frank make his own choices. When he breaks away and tries to get even with his father, he finds himself in a heap of trouble and in the care of Julie, a widow and her son Sam. Through the steadfast faith of Robert and Julie, both Belle and Frank find themselves on the road to redemption. It isn’t always easy, but with the support of friends and a God who never gives up, they both soon discover mercy in abundance. I wasn’t sure at the beginning how I would like this book, but found it was more than expected. I loved the characters and there’s even a few surprises right up until the end. Great book.
