Author: Lynette Eason
Genre: Thriller/Suspense
Series: Lake City Heroes #4
Pages: 320
Release Date: August 5, 2025
Publisher: Revell

She's intent on investigating a sinister plot of revenge, and it will take all her courage to survive.

Air Marshal Kristine Duncan is not on duty when a hijacker attempts to seize control of the plane she and her friends are on as they head out on a much-needed vacation. Jumping into action and aided by FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross, Kristine thwarts the attack and the plane lands safely. But as the investigation into the incident gets underway, Kristine and Andrew are confused at every step. Nothing about the investigation goes as it should, and each layer they peel back just reveals another layer of perplexity.

As the two work together to navigate a web of deception, blame, and personal reckoning, they find there's more to this story than meets the eye--and more to love and admire about each other. They'll have to put their skills to the test--and their hearts on the line--to unravel the truth and ensure that justice prevails.

There is a whole lot more to this story than first appears. It was like peeling an onion, layer by layer, but with every layer, the mystery deepened further. Take nothing for granted when reading this mystery.

This cast of characters are some of my favorite fictional characters. I adore this series. This one showcases Air Marshal Kristine Duncan and FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross. Kristine and a lot of other law enforcement personnel are on a flight heading to paradise. Kristine is on duty and ends up thwarting a hijacking. Needless to say, the vacation is off the table.

As the investigation begins, the puzzle gets more confusing, as this man has never done anything criminal in his life. At this point, you better hang on tight for a wild and crazy ride as the characters’ desperate need for truth and justice continually put them in harm’s way. The past and present are colliding at Mach speed. The twists were completely insane.

This faith infused story was so many levels of insanity in all the ways that thriller seekers like myself enjoy reading about.

I had some ideas about what was going on, but I was still thrown off balance as to just how depraved some people can be.

This breeze of brilliance will probably be in my top ten reads for this year. An inspirational romantic suspense book does not get much better than this one.

The book starts off with a group of friends on a plane, going on a much needed vacation. Unfortunately, a hijacker attempts to seize control, and these highly trained law enforcement types have to take control of the situation! After this action-packed start, the book focuses on Air Marshal Kristine Duncan and FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross as they try to get to the bottom of this hijacking.

The story evolves as Kristine begins to think that this latest episode is related to her Mother’s death in a similar hijacking years ago. Throw in her controlling and meddlesome father and her sister’s near death in a car crash and Kristine is up to her neck in intrigue!

Meanwhile, Andrew’s past undercover work in a gang rears its ugly head as he tries to protect his former partner, who is still working undercover. While Kristine and Andrew work together to get to the bottom of these seemingly unrelated situations, they also try to work through their budding romantic feelings.

The book is fast-paced, and the characters are well-written. The Christian faith of all the people keeps the focus on relying on God in bad situations. The book’s ending caught me totally off-guard and as a longtime reader of suspense, this is unusual. I would have liked to know a bit more about the motivation behind the things that were revealed, but the ending was still satisfying.

This is the final book in the Lake City Heroes series by Lynette Eason. My first comment would be that I think readers would enjoy this book more if they have read the previous three books. In the first chapter, the author introduces 10 major characters and 4 related ones. Trying to figure out the connections between them and their respective occupations is a bit much thrown at you all at once!

I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.

Lynette is the master of romantic suspense and this book is an exceptional end to her latest series.

Start with an attempted hijacking of a plane and pile on the action from there. You still won’t keep up with this book. Strap in for the ride of your life as tension mounts, bullets fly, and there’s a secret around each corner.

I love the way the personal lives of the characters with their struggles, triumphs, and faith seamlessly weave themselves through the story. Somehow Lynette always seems to surprise me and this book has quite the twist at the end.

The characters are so well developed I could see myself being friends with them, sharing life, and just hanging out. It takes talent to write in a way that pulls you into the story like this and I loved it.

I have read the other books in this series, and I have been anxiously awaiting this one for a long while. I kept seeing Kristine and Andrew on the sidelines for so long that it was so rewarding to finally be able to read their story.

I love stories where the characters have baggage and they can trauma bond together. Both Andrew and Kristine had their problems, and it was encouraging to see how they dealt with stressful situations. The way it is written was not exaggerated, so it allowed us to be able to sympathize with the characters and the hard times they are going through. I liked that they were both deeply rooted in their faith. Lynette Eason never fails to motivate us readers while keeping us on the edge of our seats.

It was sad knowing that this would be the last book in the Lake City Heroes series.

“Someone went to a lot of trouble to try and send that plane down somewhere else.”

Air Marshall Kristine Duncan was supposed to be on vacation. Instead, she was called upon to thwart an attempted hijacking of the very plane on which she and a group of friends were traveling. Following his arrest, the perpetrator gave law enforcement officials a nearly unbelievable and, quite frankly, a very confusing story.

Before Kristine and F. B. I. Agent Andrew Ross can finish following a faint trail of evidence, it appears that Andrew’s past undercover work within a notorious gang might become a factor. Could Andrew have been the intended target of the foiled hijacking? During these early stages of the investigation, it’s one of several viable hypotheses.

Spending more time with Andrew was something that Kristine had envisioned doing on a warm, sunny beach, but now? Everything seems to be up in the air, quite literally.

Enjoy this twisty, turning romantic suspense from its first landing through its final approach!
