"Every Hour Until Then" is the fifth book in the Timeless series. Prior to this one, I've only read Book 2, and can confirm that this installment works fine as a standalone.

This is truly an excellent dual-time historical fiction novel. Kathryn/Kate toggles between 1888 and 1938 on a daily basis. In 1938, she's working on a museum exhibit about Jack the Ripper. In 1888, she's experiencing Jack's reign of terror on a very personal level. I loved the way Kate's experiences in 1888 and her research in 1938 tied together as she learned increasingly more about the Ripper murders. The author included plenty of historical facts about the unsolved case, while also providing her own fictional solution for Kate to unravel. I especially appreciated the author's notes at the end of the book in which she clarifies which parts of the narrative were true, and which parts were her own creation.

Each of Kate's timelines was interesting in its own right. I enjoyed reading about what life was like for an intelligent and motivated woman in both time periods. I was fascinated by the individual storyline in each time, and pleased with the way they meshed together.

Kate has a love interest (Austen) in one timeline. Unfortunately, she has already decided to choose the other timeline when the day comes that she has to pick one or the other. I appreciated the sensitivity with which the author addressed the feelings of both parties as they grappled with the knowledge that they wouldn't have a future together once Kate reached her 25th birthday. All of their interactions were enjoyable, the dialogue was great, and the emotions rang true. I was fully invested in the relationship, and hoped the author would find a way for the couple to be together.

For those familiar with this series, I'll mention a unique aspect of this installment: Kate's timelines overlap. She was 25 in 1888, meaning she could still be alive at age 75 in the 1938 timeline. Other characters she knew in 1888 could also still be living. This provides lots of opportunity for speculation on the part of the reader. It also asks the question: If you could meet an older version of yourself, would you?

Definitely 5 stars!

“What was the praise of several men compared to the true love of one?”

I don’t know how she does it. Gabrielle Meyer again and again astounds, captivates, and delights her readers with a new addition to her Timeless series. Having read the four previous books, I thought I had seen and read everything she can possibly think of, but, obviously, my imagination is too small and the author’s is incomparable.

I loved being in 1888 London with Kathryn, looking for the elusive Jack the Ripper while trying to prevent her sister from becoming his last victim. I also loved being in 1938 and reconnecting with Grace and Luc while Kathryn worked in a London museum as a visiting curator on creating an exhibit on Jack the Ripper. I know much of the book, especially the speculation on the identity of the notorious serial killer, is purely fictional, but it was so fascinating to find clues and pieces to this puzzle with Kathryn in both timelines.

Kathryn’s headstrong, impulsive, and passionate first person voice was the perfect guide to this fast-paced, suspenseful story, full of intrigue and secrets. The plot differs a little from the previous books in that Kathryn only has one love interest. The intricate twists and turns to the plot remain the bedrock of this book, like the others. I must have read the last half of the book with my mouth hanging open from all the surprises. The grounding faith element was evident in the lives of Grace, Luc, and Austen and it was gratifying to see Kathryn’s faith grow throughout the book.

It is clearly one of the best books I’ve read so far in 2025. If you enjoy time-crossing adventures filled with intrigue, mystery, faith, and sweet romance, you will want to read this book and the rest of the series.

Gabrielle Meyer has done it again, drawing me into another path of history. I love her writing and how she made me feel like I am present at that time of history. There were a few parts where I felt my heart racing, nervous to see what would happen next. I had to put it away early because there was no way I was reading that before I went to sleep. It’s creepy, but in a good way.

This is a closed door romance. However, it is about Jack the Ripper, so there are details of the murder, though they are not graphic. Please read at your own caution. I recommend this book for an older audience. I am in my twenties, but I still found this book a bit too much at times that I had to put it down. All that aside, it was an amazing book with brilliant storytelling.

Gabrielle Meyer did a phenomenal job with the story of a madman terrorizing London and creating a masterpiece of a young woman willing to risk it all to save her sister from him.

The Timeless series just keeps getting better! This brilliantly plotted dual-timeline story captured me from the beginning and kept me in its grip until I turned the last page with a satisfied sigh.

Compelling expertly crafted characters stirred my emotions and resonated with me long after I finished the story. The history is amazing with the exploration of a theory as to the identity of Jack the Ripper and his motivation for killing and vivid snapshots of life in 1888 and 1938 London.

The development of the romantic relationship between Kathryn and Austen is heartwarming and, at times, heartbreaking. I appreciate the thought-provoking faith themes focusing on the sovereignty of God and the importance of seeking His will. This is my favorite of the phenomenal time-crossing books so far, and I am including this book on my Best Reads Ever list, alongside the other four exceptional reads in the series. I highly recommend this book and the series as must reads for time travel and Historical Romance fans!

NOTE: Each book in the series can be read as a standalone, but reading the books in order will provide background information that will enrich your reading experience.

Another captivating time crossing story that I could not put down. “There was a web of secrets, power, and illusions casting its shadow on 1888 and 1938.”

Kathryn is set to make a decision about which time she wants to live in. She thinks she has already made up her mind. But things change when she sets out to save her sister from certain peril. “Sometimes, plans need to be flexible to see what God wants for us.” She learns to be open to what God wants and not assert her own will.

This story fed my history-loving heart. What a privilege for Kathryn, to work at the Smithsonian, and travel to London to work on a special exhibit. But shock comes when she researches Jack the Ripper. She is astounded by the connections she discovers between her timelines. She also must be very careful to make sure that she does not change history or encounter someone she might know, since there are only 50 years separating her timelines. “The truth can set us free, but it can also put us in danger.”

I loved all the historical detail of both time periods, and how the author deftly wove the timelines together. The premise of a time crosser is unique and interesting, and the settings and characters or totally believable.

The romance tugged at the heart and showed a strong hero with solid, godly principles.

This story may be my favorite of Miss Meyer—till the next one comes out.

Wow, wow! Wow! This book is AMAZING! I think it’s the best of the timeless series (so far!). It’s set in the time periods of 1887 and 1938. In 1887, Kathryn discovered that her sister may be one of Jack the Rippers’ victims. In 1938, London was on the brink of war. As Kathryn uncovers more clues to help her sister, a sinister plot is unveiled.

The characters are wonderful and well written! Kathryn is fantastic. She deals with difficult circumstances in both of her lives, and she perseveres. She’s also loyal to her families, and she’s not afraid to protect them. Austen, be still my heart! He appears aloof, but his heart just can’t take another loss. He’s true to his love and convictions.

The love story made me at times want to shout to the characters, “Can’t you see that they love you?” But it all works out in the end, and it’s heartwarming!

I can’t wait until the next book comes out. It already sounds fascinating!

Gabrielle Meyer’s Every Hour Until Then could be the best Timeless novel yet.

As always, the characters share the same consciousness and their bodies look the same in each period. In 1888, Kathryn was racing to save her sister, who was killed by Jack the Ripper. In 1938, Kathryn is gathering all the clues she needs to find out who Jack was and how she can prevent her sister’s murder. Each night Kathryn goes to sleep, she wakes up in another era and the action, suspense and romance will keep you reading way into the night.

Parts of this book are gruesome. The details on how Jack murdered his victims might be hard for some, so please be aware of this aspect of the book if you have a hard time with that type of stuff. Otherwise, the mystery of who Jack is and how this book plays out will absolutely stun you. I was sure I knew who Jack was and was so surprised at the end I couldn’t stop reading.

I have read all the books in this series and have enjoyed them so much I plan to re-read them all again. If you enjoy time-travel books, you will love Every Hour Until Then. I highly recommend it!
