Local pediatric surgeon, Doctor William Hughes, is captivated by the Canadian beauty with a camera over one shoulder and the weight of the world on the other. After suffering his own tragic loss and balancing a demanding career with raising a toddler, he recognizes the heaviness of grief . . . and the burden of guilt. When Georgia discovers she could be in possession of incriminating evidence to frame a criminal ring, she needs to trust someone. She chooses Will. Postcards, photographs, paintings—something about Bramble Cottage is worth killing for. Can Georgia uncover the truth in time? Reviewer: Tammy Lunsford There is nothing sweeter than childhood memories, and Georgia Brooks hopes that she can recapture some of her childhood joy by moving to Bramble Cottage. Bramble Cottage is located in the English countryside. It belonged to her grandmother. She has many good memories of time spent there with her grandmother. She needs a fresh start. Her husband betrayed her, and her faith has taken a hit as well. She believes that a change of scenery from Vancouver is just what the doctor ordered. She always has her camera with her and is always looking for another great picture. It seems pictures may be what gets her in a pickle. Dr. William Hughes is a pediatric surgeon who has had tragedy in his life as well. He has had to keep going and keep smiling because he has an adorable son to raise. This loss in his life has affected him in many ways, one of which is that he has no desire for a relationship. That rings true until he meets Georgia. He feels the protective walls coming down. Georgia realizes that she is in possession of some incriminating evidence left behind by her husband. This evidence has put a target on her back. The mystery in this book is a fantastic slow build. This was a wonderful book filled with intrigue, suspense and mystery. The budding romance between the two main characters is not gushy. You can see them building their relationship, even though the attraction was immediate. Both have suffered a crisis of faith, especially Georgia, and this faith-infused story is a lesson in forgiveness. The action surrounding the mystery really revs up toward the end of the book with a little twist I didn't see coming. If you are a fan of romantic suspense with an emphasis on faith, you will love this book. Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Reviewer: Diana Lea From the publisher’s summary, I knew this book was about Georgia Brooks, a photographer from Canada, who was returning to her childhood home in England. She was looking forward to spending time with her family and allowing her heart to heal. Then, BAM, right there on page one, we find out that this book is indeed a suspense-filled mystery. The story then has touching moments where Georgia is connecting with her sister and niece. She also meets a handsome neighbor. Will is a widowed pediatric surgeon dealing with his own history of loss. Just as you get settled into the romance - watch out! More foreboding occurrences are suddenly revealed. Spiritually, both characters of Georgia and Will are prayerful. Not only does Georgia find she can lean on and receive help from Will, but they both find they can trust and rely on God. Georgia’s prayerful side looks like this: “Prayer as a first resort was something she was still getting used to again after years of struggling to control everything herself, but if ever she needed to spend time bringing everything before her Heavenly Father, it was now.” Well written? I say yes! I should also say that during the reading of this book, my chores got put off, bedtime was pushed back and peopling was moved down the priority list until this story was completed. The characters are highly relatable. The scenery is described vividly, and the story draws one in. Those who enjoy almost thriller-type suspense and can put life on hold while they read are sure to enjoy this book.
