Release Date: March 18, 2025

She's determined to make an impact in her community.
He's determined to make sure she lives long enough to do it.

Dr. Meredith Quinn always planned to return to Gossamer Falls to practice dentistry. Now that she's back home, she's made it a point to offer clinics to children and adults in nearby underserved areas. Unfortunately, those same areas are known to harbor drug traffickers, and Police Chief Grayson Ward suspects that local law enforcement is looking the other way.

After too many losses, Grayson has closed off his heart. But with Meredith in his life, he feels his walls crumbling, leaving him exposed and vulnerable. To keep her alive, he must keep her close, but that makes it impossible for him to retreat and rebuild.

Will she be the one who finally helps him emerge from isolation? Or will this force of nature leave him shattered?

"The world needed people like Meredith Quinn. Shoot. He needed people like Meredith Quinn."

Puzzled by who might want to cause her harm, Meredith Quinn was just thankful that Police Chief Gray Ward had been at the right place at the right time when someone had apparently sabotaged her mobile denistry van by slicing the fuel line. She'd been politely warned not to venture out of her county alone, but now it seemed that everyone in her sphere, both related (and there were plenty of those!) and unrelated were insisting that she be hyper aware of her surroundings. . . . not that she minded Grayson Ward sticking close. . . . at all.

Grayson was sure that Meredith had inadvertently learned something from one of her dental patients that had put her in the crosshairs of some very dangerous people. Nearby Neeson County was swarming with miscreants while the local law enforcement conveniently looked the other way. Being part of her personal security team was undoubtedly going to test his resolve to avoid any personal attachments, but a man has his limits. When Gray did loosen a bit of his self-mandated control, it made matters worse, and the very person he vowed to protect now wanted nothing to do with him.

"Pride goeth before a fall. She'd heard that her entire life. She hadn't expected the fall to be quite so . . . brutal. Or to last so long. She was so tired . . . of hurting . . . of being afraid . . . of everyone feeling sorry for her."

So many characters, so many scene changes, so many reoccurring conversations made this story feel more like a contemporary romance than a romantic suspense. . . . . . however, the last few chapters confirmed that danger was lurking around every corner after all. . . . . even if we never had a chance to meet those unsavory characters. Personally, I would have loved more story balance, but enjoyed the book nonetheless.

I received a copy of this book for Revell Publishing through Interviews and Reviews. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

This was my first Lynn H. Blackburn book, and I am obsessed. For me, it was the perfect combination of romance and suspense. It was very well balanced out. I really liked that it was not a strangers-to-lovers trope.

Gray and Meredith have already known each other for a while, so their falling in love did not seem rushed at all. Ever since their first encounter, I was obsessed with them. I love the way it progressed and showed us how long they have secretly pined for each other while the other being oblivious. They show us a carefully and intricately crafted love.

I loved all the details she put into the book, especially when she described her characters. It shows us how much thought and care she put into creating them. I like the family and closeness she expressed. I really need to know what is going on with Mo and Bronwyn. I cannot wait for next year.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through Interviews & Reviews. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

I love the entire Quinn gang and the cozy small-town vibe of Gossamer Falls. Meeting up with Cal, Landry, Bronwyn, Mo, and Meredith again was so much fun and getting to know Gray, the chief of police, was very cool.

I loved Meredith’s heart of gold and her tendency to run headlong into trouble. Gray, with his stoic, steadfast presence, was the complete opposite of Meredith’s bubbly nature, but they complemented each other nicely.

The suspense component of the plot was riveting, with lots of twists and turns. The brother’s best friend trope (or in this case, cousin’s best friend) worked well to bring Meredith and Gray together. I enjoyed the faith thread, particularly in Gray’s life, where he had to reconsider what God’s will for his life might be. Seeing Cal and Landry incredibly happy after their harrowing experience in the first book was a bonus. I can’t wait to read about Bronwyn and Mo next!

I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell via Interviews & Reviews through NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
