Beyond the Melody is a beautiful beginning to the Return to Sweetwater Crossing series. What a pleasure to revisit this wonderful Texas Hill Country small town to meet a new generation of characters descended from the previous series’ main characters. 

These richly drawn characters are memorable with real life struggles. They kept me totally invested in their story and hoping for a happily ever after. Anna and Jim, who have a sigh-worthy instant connection, both have emotional wounds resulting from wartime and previous broken romantic relationships. I love how their story unfolds as they help each other heal from the past and move forward together. 

I enjoyed the author’s authentic depiction of the spirit and mood of the post-World War II era. This heartwarming, satisfying story stole my heart, and I highly recommend it.

This was such a lovely story that I thoroughly devoured in one sitting.

I only have one word. “Sigh.”

Jim and Anna were wonderful in getting to know. Each had painful pasts to overcome, especially Jim. My heart went out to him in more ways than one. I admired him a great deal. I kept rooting for him and holding out hope for both Anna and Jim.

Do you believe in instant attraction? I certainly do. I kept turning the pages to see if my guess was correct about these two. I won’t say if it was cause I don’t want to give it away lol, but I’m sure you can guess.

I loved “watching” them slow dancing with the jukebox. The author described this scene very well. It’s one of my favorites.

I also loved watching Sweetwater Crossing change with the times in this wonderful series.

This could be made into a Hallmark movie! It was sooooo good!

This story left my heart feeling full and satisfied!

5 stars for a wonderful romance and 2nd chances. I highly recommend.
